S did not get in. ;-( Still love W&M and I wish everyone still waiting for results the best of luck!! Thank you to the sdmissions folks, I have enjoyed reading your posts.

VAStudent4, unfortunately we cannot provide you the answer you’re looking for. We simply do not know how fast our server will operate and whether any glitches will arise. We certainly hope decisions are out before midnight disseminating 13,000 individual emails takes some time.

We do promise to post when all emails have left our server assuming that happens at a reasonable hour.

mamom, we appreciate that you have enjoyed your posts and wish your S all the best as he finalizes his college search process.

thanks for the prompt response! looking forward to receiving the decision, no matter the outcome. good luck to everyone!

Oh, huzzah! I had no clue decisions were being emailed, let alone tonight! Thanks so much W&M Admission!

For the William and Mary admissions office: will the decisions regarding the joint degree programme be released tonight as well? Thanks~

those who are denied and waitlisted for the joint degree program will learn that in the same email they learn about their admission to W&M.

Those admitted to the joint degree program will learn that via snail mail.

Waitlist email received… and all is good I have learned so much the past months as we traveled through the admissions process. One, my daughter is among peers that are smart, capable, caring, and possess the ability to achieve great things. It gives me hope for the future! Having to select only a few from so many great candidates can’t be easy! But somehow, I think they get it right! My daughter was torn between UVA and William and Mary. While I think she would have thrived at either school, there was something inside that made me feel that UVA was where she was meant to be. She was accepted at UVA on Friday. I honestly believe that the admissions staff has the ability to see things through the application that we may not. Something beyond a single set of stats or achievements. Intuition maybe?

Congratulations to everyone who will be at William and Mary next fall… follow your heart as you make your decision! Hugs to those that are heartbroken tonight. Trust that somehow, no matter how perfect W&M seemed, your true perfect fit is out there waiting for you to arrive!

A big thank you to everyone on the W&M Admissions team. I appreciate all that you have done I will be back for round two in 2013!!!

Received my rejection email today around 7:05. Disappointed to see I was rejected, but I understand. As an OOS student, I went into my admission to W&M with an understanding that it would be more difficult. Good luck to all that were accepted; W&M is a fantastic school and I am certain that the incoming class is one for the books. There is not one right school, and those who were not admitted will find a school that fits them perfectly.
Also, I am looking forward to the Admit It! blog tomorrow detailing the process. W&M was a school that my counselor thought I would be able to get into, so I am curious as to see what the decisions specifically entailed.
Good luck to everyone waiting to find out!

Mom1113, congrats on your D’s admission to UVA. You are absolutely right that your daughter, as a waitlisted student, is in incredibly good company and we appreciate your positive and thoughtful reaction to the decision your D received. We look forward to continuing our conversations in a few years.

2011nystudent, we wish you all the best and we’re sorry the news can’t be better. Applicant pools change every year and admission outcomes aren’t easily predictable. No doubt your counselor was advising you to the best of his/her abilities but many do underestimate our selectivity (we admit only about 27% of the OOS students who apply and about 33% of all applicants) so sometimes our decisions do come as a surprise but we promised they were reached through an incredibly thorough and thoughtful review process of each individual application.

Here’s what the good news looks like. Best of luck to all of you waiting!

Dear [My Son],

People say that good things come in small packages, but in college admissions, good things come in thick envelopes. Consider this the small package, but something bigger is on its way.

Be sure to check your mailbox closely in the coming days.

Welcome to the Tribe!

– The Admission Committee

Accepted woooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo thanks so much!

I got in! Don’t know if I’ll end up at William and Mary, but so happy to have the choice!

“Who” does the email come from? Just wanting to make sure we don’t miss it in spam or junk folders.

undergradadmission@wm.edu is where mine was sent from

Congrats rebeccar and VAstudent. Once you receive your admit packs in the mail, check out our welcome website and the invitation to Day for Admitted Students. We hope they will help you make the “smart choice” as we call it.

VAMom, the sender’s handle differs depending on the software/server you’re using to access email. undergradadmission@wm.edu will appear somewhere in the sender’s handle. Check spam/junk thoroughly as we believe emails could easily land there

Son accepted from Northeast Tennessee! Very excited. Go Tribe!

I feel like I’m going to be the last one in my school to find out >.>

I’ve been refreshing for a while now haha

plue00, a few batches still in the queue. We’re working diligently to get them all out.

I’m sorry if that sounded rude or anything! I know that sending 10k+ emails is going to take a while and I know that you guys are hard at work. I really find it amazing that a W&M rep would reply to people on a forum!

O.o I just got an email an hour after my friend got hers. It says good things come in small packages… I’m accepted???

I can not believe this!!! Utter shock is smeared on my face. Must get up and crawl toward the door to tell parents…
