When will we get that acceptance letter in the mail?

hawk… what?

Did anyone else receive a formal note on Fri/Sat Dec. 12 from Notre Dame saying they are mailing out their decision on December 15th , no email and with expected arrival before the 21st (after the 21st they are permitted to give out decision info by phone)? If they mail out today, then Friday/Saturday would be the average date heard unless you live in close proximity to South Bend in which case you might here on Wed or Thursday. Maybe they stagger the date mailed so most hear on Friday.

I got that letter too but I don’t think it said they were mailing it out Dec 15th… They just said they got all my stuff and to expect a decision before Dec 21st.

I NEED A RESPONSE FROM THEM ASAP!!! ):

Anyone else in this thread a legacy? I was freaking out as much as you guys are and have been checking the mailbox frantically over the last week, when I stumbled upon a letter my parents (both ND class of '88) got weeks ago. I don’t remember the exact text of it, but it came down to:

-ND wants 25% of the Class of 2014 to be children of alumni.
-ND will admit roughly 50% of legacy applicants this year.

Not sure if this is a relief to anyone, or if you guys already knew about it. Certainly took a load off my back.

When does SMU send there EA letters out? Is it by email or mail?

Wow that legacy thing kills my chances. DO many other schools put so much importance on legacy?

I’m a legacy as well, my mother got the same letter. I was pretty unsurprised- if you look in the alumni directory is says that any given incoming freshman class will be between 24-28% legacies.

ND sure is taking it’s sweet sweet time with decisions…

Legacies get a huge boost. I am the son of a '81 grad, dad got that letter and showed it to me. I just feel like now if/when I do get in, it is by dishonest means. I feel like I was plenty qualified to get in regardless, but hey, at least now I know for sure.

I really hope the darn letter or packet comes soon though! This is nerve wracking.

Should come for most by Saturday!

benfro6 - at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you get in anywhere, just that you get in, don’t worry about if legacy gets you in - the fact that you are in is the only thing that matters.

That’s a huge legacy percentage.

omg I hate legacy (no offense, i’m just jealous). I mean I had an alumni write a letter for me, but I’m not sure if it carries much weight. That legacy percentage kills me.

Saturday? Really?

Hopefully Chicago area will get them tomorrow.

fingers crossed!

Keep the faith, Kcorr, legacy can work against you too. Once the 25% threshhold is met, qualified legacies might not make it. There is a effort as well to ensure that classes contain 75% non-legacies. The glass is half full!

I live about 20 minutes from Notre Dame and got my acceptance letter today!
That leads me to believe they were probably sent out early today, and should start arriving all over the country tomorrow/the day after.
Good luck everyone!

i live outside the US. but about two weeks ago i got an email asking me to fill out a financial certification (?) form that was wanting to know if i had money to attend and stuff. after i sent them the info i got a confirmation that they had everything… through email though. but if theyre giving me this info through email, shouldnt they give my decisions through email as well? why arent they giving this now? i heard some people were already accepted and stf… im so worrieddd… i was rejected at northwestern and deferred at u of chicago and mit that i am extremely worried

Same as my situation. Wooooooorring

Northwest suburbs of Chicago check your mailboxes. I got it in the mail today. My D got accepted!
