When do they send RD letters?

i got my acceptance on march 28. it was fedexed.

My daughter got hers on the 28th last year as well. Hers actually came priority mail (not FedEx), so in other words, to the US mail box (FedEx would come in a seperate delivery...)

We had applied for financial aid and around the first of March we began getting notes from Barnard requesting more information of a very specific nature...that made us CRAZY thinking SURELY that meant she had been accepted (but of course we did not know for sure). Turns out, indeed, she was!

Best of luck to you. My fingers and toes will be crossed on or around the 28th or so...and you all are in my prayers.

Ahhh nerve-wracking : / If I live in New Jersey (just across the river from NYC, actually), might I get it sooner?

i think mine was priority mail too, not fedex. i was actually on vacation for spring break, and i was going CRAZY wondering what would be waiting for me in my mailbox when i got home. my dad stayed home but i made him promise not to tell me if anything came, but when i got to the airport there he was with a wrapped box.. and my acceptance inside :)

my family also got very specific financial aid letters in the beginning of march. my mom told me she thought that meant i'd been accepted, but i was skeptical. i dont know if they were related or not.

ladylazarus, I guess you could get yours sooner...I really am not sure. you might check the archives to see if you can find posts from that time last year to see if people from different areas got theirs at differing times...

And I am convinced the financial aid inquiries WERE related. But, who knows. It just would not make any sense to me for the financial aid office to be asking EVERY applicant (whether accepted or not), just three weeks before acceptance letters go out, for very specific additional financial documentation. That would surely be a waste of time...

hey...i was wondering if any of you knew about ppl overseas...when they receive RD letters....is it only done by mail, not by email?..that would be a pain

I got an e-mail this week asking for w-2's and 2-4's and tax returns. What else can they ask for?

i think it's a bit odd they did that by email, although i guess it's speedier. churchmusicmom thinks that asking for financial stuff like that indicates acceptance (although, i agree it's super nosy, etc) but dont get your hopes up, just give them what they want.

mbe: if you have applied for consideration for fin. aid, they will need all of this info in order to fully assess your application for aid. And you will have to do all of this again for the next three years!!

And I do think this is a "good" sign. At least it was for us....

Best to you all!
:)

I don't think it means anything either, although I wish it was. Now that it is almost March, the pressure is starting.

I was told by the admissions office that they will be sending out all the decision letters on March 23rd this year.

is this only in the form of "letters", in the sense of postal mail?...please tell me they send decisions by email too!

no decisions by email, unless they changed it this year.

actually, that's not entirely true, i did get an email that said "your admission to barnard college," but that happened a few days after i got my real letter in the mail.

you guys think you have it bad? i'm a transfer applicant. i'll leave college at the end of teh year not knowing yet.

I didnt apply for financial aid but just got an email saying if I was sure I didn't want to!..do you think it's a generic email?... I know I shouldn't read much into it ...but still!! :)...especially the phrase "we send out information to all admitted students in April regarding payment plans and other financing options."..ah well...I shouldn't get too excited...its only a few more weeks now...

Hey, I was just reading through these posts about financial aid and decisions. I did not apply to Barnard but I did apply to one of the other womens colleges and they sent me an letter that they needed my w-2's and a copy of my parents 1040 forms. I called the fin. aid office just to clarify the forms needed and the woman said that they make packages for everyone and they dont talk to admissions they just make a package for everyong whether they are accepted or not. does this make any sense? also, they sent me a course book with a complete list of majors and classes about 2 weeks ago. although i asked a few other applicants on this board if they got the book they were just like "yea, its part of their bulk mailings". i guess im just reading far too into all of this stuff but if they reject me after sending me a book with all of their courses over a month after the application deadline and the crew coach sends me hand addressed letters about the team that i have still been receiving i will be very upset! haha i mean if they don't take me i will have to applaud them with doing a great job of getting my hopes up since they have kept in contact with me so much. if you gonna reject me just stop sending me mail already! ok thanks to anyone who responds i just had to get that all out...good luck to all of you applying to barnard!

I don't see why they would make a package for everyone...do you mean they make a file of the stuff even if they don't need it? I'd figure they have to get all the stuff, but I think they'd persue you more for the stuff if you are accepted. However, Barnard set up a financial aid website to check your stuff (like the application materials checker), so I assume they HAVE to do that for everyone....so I guess that gives even less credibility to the whole "contacted for materials means you're in" theory.

Hey!
I got the e-mail today too regarding my lack of a financial aid application. The phrasing of the e-mail made me wonder whether it was any clue to my Barnard acceptance/rejection.
"Finally, it is important to know that, should you choose to enroll at Barnard, you may contact our office for information about applying for financial aid if your financial circumstances change in subsequent years."
I think that I might just be overanalyzing this e-mail though :)
Big surprise!

yeah...i got that same missing financial aid materials-letter february 11th and I had my interview on January 22nd. So putting two and two together, they couldn't have made an admissions decision letter that fast, since they DO consider the interview in admissions. I personally won't get my hopes up.
