When you think of this school, you think...

So I'm trying to get a better sense of what the general community/people/atmosphere is like at the schools that are on my list. If you had to describe your impression of the school in roughly few phrases or whatever - not too long! - what would you say?

I understand that there will probably be stereotypes and that one's impression of a school is very subjective, but I'd still like to get as many opinions as possible. Thanks for your help!

Here's the schools
-Case Western
-Duke
-Emory
-Georgetown
-Harvard
-Holy Cross
-Johns Hopkins
-Notre Dame
-Rochester
-Stanford
-Villanova
-WashU

-Case Western
“Our workload is second only to MIT. Our ranking definitely isn’t.” => bitter
-Duke
Very sports-oriented, with racial tensions. (From the lacrosse thing.)
-Emory
Great school, but I find Georgia depressing (all that Spanish moss…).
-Georgetown
NYU + better test scores + more politics/international relations oriented.
-Harvard
Woot woot!
-Holy Cross
Moderately good, core curriculum, more obscure than the rest.
-Johns Hopkins
Premed central oh dear god.
-Notre Dame
Many good Catholics, but also some football maniacs and a good number of hard partiers.
-Rochester
Cold. Snow.
-Stanford
California oak trees are nasty. The ones on Stanford’s campuses spiked me all over when I jumped in a pile when I was ~5.
-Villanova
Small-ish, compact, Catholic, some monks/nuns on campus.
-WashU
Premed central take two.

Thanks
And considering that I want to go pre-med, maybe that whole pre-med central thing isn’t such a bad thing haha, but to each his own.

More opinions?

-Case Western
Modern campus. Not the best architecture.
-Duke
Great school, but still only the second best basketball program in its own state
-Emory
Prestigious, great location.
-Georgetown
Hot girls and basketball. Wealthy.
-Harvard
Bangin.
-Holy Cross
Do they make you wear uniforms?
-Johns Hopkins
Lacrosse and samurai students
-Notre Dame
Football. Rudy. Hates BC.
-Rochester
They give out the Kodak scholarship.
-Stanford
Director’s cup, anyone?
-Villanova
Friend calls it “Villa-no-fun”
-WashU
Great advertising budget.

Holy Cross -situated on small mountain with stairs everywhere. Great panoramic view of the area and reputation for being a velvet sweatshop due to the academics. Rated a 98 for academics by Princeton Review. Only 5 colleges ranked higher.

I don’t usually post to these but…

-Case Western

Great STEM education, mediocre to good location. Really great safety or match school.

-Duke

Very sporty, lots of controversy, otherwise very traditional collegiate experience (sports, party, good education).

-Emory

“Alternative” location for a great school, makes a great match for “the usual” CC students. It felt bland to me in my search, but only because it didn’t meet my qualifications.

-Georgetown

Preppy, great location, great for SFS.

-Harvard

I wasn’t impressed. Fantastic location if not for the weather, otherwise it didn’t seem to have any stand out features.

-Holy Cross

Religious?

-Johns Hopkins

Really awful location, stressful, competitive.

-Notre Dame

Too socially conservative.

-Rochester

I liked this school. Location sucks. It’s just an all around great school with fair selectivity.

-Stanford

…obviously biased. I can’t imagine going or thinking about anywhere else. Laid back atmosphere, great academics, fantastic weather for cardigan-lovers, not a lot of “tradition,” innovation…

-Villanova

Too socially conservative.

-WashU

Second only to Stanford in my opinion (fit, not rankings, clearly).
