I am planning on transfering to a different college my junior year (i will be a freshman this fall) and i was wondering how the whole SAT thing works. Will i still include the same SAT score than i got in High School? Or can you take it again in college? I got a 1270 in HS but im sure i could do a lot better if i took it after 2 years of college... but can you even do this?

Colleges do not look at your SAT scores for admission as a transfer student.

I'm not sure about retaking it, but colleges will only need your SAT scores depending on how many units/credits you've completed. If you're transferring by junior year, it probably won't even matter.

Heavy metal -- Yes, they do

Seacow -- When you send a collegeboard grade report, it sends every single score of every test you've ever taken. I think they just take the highest one. I retook the SAT in college to try to up it, but did way worse. So I hope they take HS instead of college SAT!!

ClaySoul, you only need it if you are transferring as a sophomore or less. Junior applicants need not send in SAT scores.

That is not true at all. Many competative schools want to look at your SAT's regardless of how many credits you've accrued. How much are they weighted in the admission process? I know not, but would assume it to vary greatly from institution to institution.

The answer is: It depends on the school, contact them personally to find out

I took the ACT again as a soph in college to transfer - bumped my score up 5 points (35) over my HS score.

I'd take it again if you're sure you can do much better. It can't hurt.

heavymetal, claysoul:

in a way, your both right.

here are the facts: SAT scores count for most students trying to transfer into a 4 year

HOWEVER: UC transfer students of junior standing or above, do not have thier sat scores considered in admission.s

there are other exceptions too

"HOWEVER: UC transfer students of junior standing or above, do not have thier sat scores considered in admission.s"

thats all i need.

HeavyMetalG0d, the op did not mentioned he is applying to UCs, however. It depends on the schools
