Any particular countries, or just from all over?

They’re are from all over. You should visit the Class of 2017 Mount Holyoke Facebook page. I know some are from Iran, Bulgaria, China, Vietnam, France, and many other places. Those are ones I know that I am friends with on facebook right now.

I’m from India :)

Hello! So I am an international student and I got into Mount Holyoke ED2 with financial aid. I also got the 21st century scholarship. My family contribution (with health insurance) is about 8.5 k. I can only afford 6 k per year. I tried negotiating but the financial aid department wasn’t very flexible. I don’t know what to do now because I really want to attend MHC. Is it possible to save (summer jobs/internships) about 3 k per year in MHC so that I could contribute towards my family contribution? Are there any outside/inside scholarships for international students that I could apply for after I enroll? Please share your financial experiences with me at MHC. Thanks!

An scholarships will not reduce your EFC. However, it will reduce the loan portion of your award.

@Lesgo102 Congrats on getting into MoHo! It is possible to save 3k from summer jobs. I’m not sure if there is any outside scholarships, but you can always try googling it. You could always try applying for a loan in your home country. I think student loans in the US are for US citizens only; not sure though.
@agreatperhaps International students from the class of 2017 are from Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Columbia, Ethiopia, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malawi, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Zimbabwe. International students are very accepted. I have friends from China, France, Germany, Chad, Canada, and the UK. Over breaks students that are from the US will invite the international students to stay with them.

Awesome thank-you! No unfortunately my home country doesn’t give out any student loans BUt Mount Holyoke did give me some student loan…Hmnn if I save 3k per year, I should hopefully be able to attend MHC! :D

@greengriffins: Also, as a recipient of the 21st century scholarship, I apparently get ‘funding’ for a summer internship…do you know how long these summer internships are? And what the value of the funding is? Thanks!

^^ Just to make sure that you understand that as an international student, it is usually very difficult to find jobs outside campus without proper visa. F1 visa does not allow students to work outside campus. But, on the other hand, don’t be discouraged, as in a Chinese saying, the cart will find its way round the hill when it gets there.
