Where are you in your app process?

I'm a rising senior, and I'm just curious as to where other CCers are in their application process. Are you an overzealous proactive person who has already nearly finished common app and all their essays, a procrastinator who is waiting for the deadline, or somewhere in between?
I'm currently finishing up my general common app personal essay, just starting my supplementary essays, and I still have some standardized tests. What about you, class of 2015?

I’m the “overzealous proactive person” ;)

Everything that can be done is done. Just need my counselor and teachers for recs and school stuff.

…Then I’ll start on my RD schools. This better be worth it.

wow drunkofdreams that’s impressive…it’ll be worth it in a couple months when everyone’s freaking out about app deadlines and you’re enjoying senior year :)

i’m overzealous. done with common app objective stuff, finished and editing common app essay, all done with all tests (sent to all schools), working on scholarships and supplements. pretty much same as drunkofdreams
ik during the year it’ll be 10x to have the focus i do now lol

Kond of started the common app essay. Finalizing my school list and doing the easy supplements (short answers). Still need to properly organize my ECs in order of importance.

im appying to somewhere between 8-10 schools. ive done all of teh application materials for the 8 schools i know im applying to, and im holding off till i visit the other two. i made a list of which materials i need to send in for each college, and all i really have to do is write my college essays/personal statements. then, i have to edit over 150 pictures for my portfolio (im applying to art school) and decide which ones would be the best for my portfolio and do the hometests.

i shoudl be done most of the essays and hometests in a week or two. then, ill visit the one of the two colleges (the other one is an airplane ride away…) and decide if i wanna apply or not. prepare those materials if i decide to, edit the pictures for my portfolio and then leave teh editing to like, a month before each deadline

just a side note: i only finished the apps that are currently available not all of them (since i dont have them do fill out)

for those that have finished…
what essay topic did you choose? free response?

Yeah, free response. An adcom once said* that if he had five essays and five applications, he should be able to match the essays to the application. IMO, free response gives you the most space to develop yourself and explain one unique aspect about yourself.

*Haha, I make it sound like adcoms are godly or something…

i’m done with the information section of the common app & i’m just starting my essays. hopefully i’ll be done by mid august.

i don’t mean to steal the show from the OP here but @drunkofdreams did you choose the free response essay topic on the common app or the supplements?

Finishing up information section of Common App. Thinking of essay ideas and how to write them. Finalized school list. Need to get rec stuff ready to ask teachers

Currenlty, I know where I am applying, and I have finished the EC essay on the common app along with all the objective stuff. I have one more supp essay to do and the big commonapp one, and I need to take a couple more tests before I send in those scores.

The thing I’m worried most about is my art supplement. I have to get my recordings perfect and send those in too. I also have to send in an additional rec along with my other recs.

yeah my commonapp essay is a hybrid of one of the tasks and free response…it’s kinda weird but I think it’ll turn out fine. Wow you guys all seem to be on the ball with college apps…I’m applying to 14 schools (at least for now) and I’ve only done preliminary supplements and my common app essay! I better get to work haha

eagertolearn…just out of curiosity what are you doing for your arts supplement?

I’ll probably end up procrastinating my commonapp essay. I can’t seem to write the whole thing. Gah!!!

Runi, for my arts supp, I’m playing flute (3 + styles of music and some excerpts maybe)–I’m majoring. Are you sending an arts supp too?

Wow you must be awesome at flute. I’m considering sending in a small supplement piece of Sitar (it’s an Indian musical instrument I play). I’m not majoring in music, and I’m not really really amazing at Sitar, so I’m not sure if I will send it in yet.

=) haha I’m Indian. That’s so cool! It will allow the admissions officers to hear that part of your culture. I think you should send it in. If you can play reasonably well, why not?

Haha I guess I didn’t need to explain what the Sitar was to you  Yeah I think I will send it in. It’s an original composition so maybe they’ll find it creative.

Umm I don’t quite get WithWizard’s post
