I've used fastweb a few time but to no avail. I understand that fastweb's scholarships are very competitive and therefore the odds of winning them are slim to none. I was just wondering if any of you knew where I can find less competitive scholarships to apply for. Most of the scholarships that I found in scholarship books from libraries required me to be part of some organization or from certain states.

Your best source will be the school guidance department. They will know about local scholarships, which are the easiest to obtain in most cases.

I’m a college freshmen. So what should I do to find scholarships to apply for?

Less competitive scholarships are typically the ones that are local or have a more exclusive eligibility requirement, such as being a part of an organization or a special skill. Try seeing if you can find anything that’s state-specific, and if you can narrow it down to even county or city specific.

Your university is probably the best place to look for scholarships. You’re already narrowing down the applicant pool because your competition is only those who attend your school. Have you declared a major by chance? Sometimes schools will have scholarships that are major-specific, and your odds can be increased even more in your favor.

Try going to the financial aid office or looking on your college’s scholarship website to see what they have listed.

There are few outside private scholarships for continuing students. You need to look to your dept major to see what they offer. If you’re a top student in your major, then you might qualify for a dept scholarship.
