Hi guys I've been thinking about college a lot lately and I was wondering if you guys could give me a better idea of my chances this upcoming fall when I work on applications.

I am a rising senior at a public university in California.

GPA: W: 4.65
UW: 3.96

SAT: Took it twice

First:
Composite: 1980
Math:760
Reading: 620
Writing: 600

Second:
Composite: 2290
Math:770
Reading: 770
Writing: 750

I don't have very many ec's :P

Play piano, been playing for ~12 years.
Soccer: Played since I was 5 but just for fun
Tennis: 12 years, 4 years varsity team
Chess: 2 time state champion, top 100 in US for age. Officer of school Chess Club

Do you guys think I could go to any of the following?
Stanford
Any UC's
Any IVY's ?
Any other decent colleges that you guys think would be a match for me?

Thanks in advance :) will chance back

Your goal: Attend a great college, obtain a great gpa, and have the least debt.
Where should you apply?
UNC-Chapel hill, UCLA, UVA, Brown, and Dartmouth. Schools like that are your aim.

Lower ivys and the UCs are in you crosshairs. Prolly not chapel.

thanks guys! yeah i don’t expect to go to hyps or anything, I just want to know my range when it comes time to apply
thanks again. anyone else have any input?

I don’t think you’d get into Stanford or any Ivies with those EC’s unless you write an absolutely killer essay. It might be worth the chance at Brown/Dartmouth, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you got rejected. I think your match/high match/low reach schools are USC, UCLA, UVA, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, and all UC’s except maybe Berkeley.

Now that I’m looking back at your SATs, I actually think you’d have a shot at Brown/Dartmouth.

What’s your class rank or percentile?

Definitely go for the UCs. I think that if you do a lot more impressive EC’s that relate to your chosen major, you’ll be a competitive applicant for HYPS and the other Ivies. Just make sure that you choose EC’s that relate to your major so that you seem passionate about what you want to study. Passion is key; convey it in your essays! Taking the SAT one more time to get a 2300+ might not be a bad idea. Good luck!!

thanks guys! my school doesn’t do class rank but I’m top 5% easily
