When you pull up your class schedule for FALL 2008 on Blackboard there is a link at the top that says "BUY BOOKS". This link takes you to the University Bookstore website (eFollett) and shows the price for new/used editions for all your courses. You can also go to site Locate Course Materials directly and search by term, dept, course and section and see the required and optional textbooks. You can go to the University bookstore on campus as well.

Bill's Bookstore also has both new/used textbooks for each course listed on their web site Search by Course | Buy Textbooks | Bills Bookstore and they have locations near campus where you can purchase the books you need.

Sometimes nothing is listed for your section and you have to wait until you go to the class to find out what the professor requires.

I bought some of my books from Barnes and Noble and Amazon because they're usually cheaper there. The University bookstore can be overpriced but it depends on the book. You should really just look around and compare prices.
Usually people just buy the books on their credit card and your Bright Futures money for textbooks will just be refunded to you (either your Suntrust account or check in the mail). Or you could buy the books at the University bookstore when you go there, and they will deduct the money from your financial aid when it becomes available and you'll have to pay for the rest later. Obviously if you want to do that, you have no other option but to buy your books at the Unversity bookstore and this cannot be done on-line. You can only buy on-line if you're buying with your credit card (not financial aid). You'd have to buy the textbooks when you get there. If you ask me, buying the books on a credit card is easier and you can buy them cheaper that way from elsewhere.

Get ready for sticker shock on your books. And Bright Futures will cover only 187.50 a semester. Lucky you are just taking chem lab and not chem or it would have been worse, as those science texts are pricey. Hopefully with just the lab you might be able to get by without a book. I would estimate the bio and chem texts are $150 each.

Actually you only need 6 hours for Bright Futures but 12 hours to be considered a full time student. The university scholarship requires a minimum of 12 hours and 28 combined for fall/spring.

Yes i am taking General Chem AND Lab. It seems that the Chem course is not available in Blackboard and i just copied the courses from blackboard so Chem was not included. I am taking a total of 14hrs.

You can go to secure apps and there is a link to your schedule "my class schedule" and at the top of the schedule page is a link to buy books. It lists your schedule and shows it on a timeline. Its a nice feature in secure apps. You'll be fine with 14 hours.

Who is your social psych teacher? I'm taking that class too. I bought all my books off of ebay. I just got an e-mail about a deferment for financial aid where I can go get my books or something? I was a little confused by it but I may not need it, as I only need one more book, pending if the class needs a book or not.

If you got the email about financial aid deferment, you can buy your books at FSU Bookstore or Bills Bookstore. If no book is listed either through searching for it on blackboard or the respective bookstore sites, then you can just go to class and the professor will address it.

If you want to use the financial aid deferment, just go to the book store and they will have you complete a form. They will automatically get paid when you receive your financial aid on Sept 2.

Well, it does depend on how much you are getting for FA. If all that is left after tuition, room etc is less than your book bill they will bill you.
