I'm well above the Semifinalist cutoff score for my state, so I'll probably have to take the SAT this Fall. Since all I have to do is beat the cutoff SAT score, I wasn't planning on studying intensely for it. But if I'm required to send those scores to the colleges I'm considering, that would be a different story. Can I take the SAT so that the National Merit people can see it, but not submit it to any colleges?

(If I posted this in the wrong place, I'm sorry. I'm new. Thanks!)

olimal…Yes, you can choose to submit your score only to NMSC. NMSC has it’s own code (0085) for submitting scores, so you can choose that as one of your free score reports when you take the SAT or you can pay to have it sent after you receive your scores. If you don’t want the scores to go to any schools on your list, just don’t enter any other codes.

Some schools require your entire testing history. Keep that in mind.

Okay, thanks a bunch, you two!

Since you are going to take the test anyway, why not do some practice and have some preparation on it. You should try to maximize the use of that score. For schools that want all scores like Stanford, you need to submit it too. You may also include the safety school(s) on the free score report list.
