Where do I stand?

I have been stressing over application essays and am trying to figure out how much effort I have to put into WPI's.

Here are my stats:

Out-of-State transfer applicant (borderline sophomore/junior status)
Civil Engineering major
Hispanic
3.7 GPA , 3.89 in math and science
Ive completed the basic engineering core-calc,chem,physics courses

Extracurriculars:
a couple of honor societies
Member of American Society of Civil Engineers
Member of Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge project team

SAT scores:
don't matter

Should I worry much about the essay? For some reason I feel like WPI places a greater emphasis on the personal statement than other schools do.

One more thing, does anyone know how important the Mid-Semester Grade Report is?

THANKS!

If your SAT scores are good (above WPI's median) then I'd submit them. It's not like it hurts you.

But yeah, I'd say that you're going to get in.

Thank you al.

can anyone else give their input?

I don't know what their transfer requirements are but depending on the rigor of the college you now attend, your GPA is very good. My s got accepted as a freshman with much lower GPA from HS. I think you have a good chance

Do anyone now how much emphasis is put on the personal statement?

or the Mid-Semester Grade Report?

alright kid..first off 3.7, 3.89 in math and science what does that mean...whats ur cumm gpa? u maybe misleading people to believe that ur overall h.s. gpa is higher than it really is. for example, my math and science courses combined gpa is alot higher than my norm cum gpa. are you saying that ur h.s. gpa on ur transcript is a 3.7 and 3.89 because if not wpi also cares about ur other subjects not just math and science.

I think his GPA is 3.7 overall and 3.89 in math and science. Also he's a URM and he has relevant extracurriculars. I'd be really shocked if he didn't get in (and get decent money too).

For comparison my high school GPA was a 3.5 (granted, I had a solid upward trend), I'm not a URM, and I didn't have any relevant extracurriculars. Yet I got in and got about 22k in scholarship. This guy should probably get in.

First of all, "this guy" has a name :)

Wpi2013, I am a transfer applicant with 60 credits- forget about h.s grades. Al's assumption about my Gpa is correct, and I hope al is right about the finaid, I really need it.

How can I speak with students that transferred to wpi? I think they would be the students that can really answer my questions about the school and the application process.

Thanks .

im sorry just a little confusion...with that straightened out..ya i believe ull get in
