I love that Kenyon came up in the second post on this thread, courtesy @happy1
Congrats!! The best of luck to her.
Iâve been following this journey, although I havenât been posting!
WOOP WOOP!! My D1 graduated from Kenyon and I miss those cornfields! CONGRATS to the future Kenyon âLadyâ!!
Whatâs your nipple-ring budget?
@happy1 , you need a personal thank you for post #2. Thanks! @brantly , bated breath, just for you. And @moooop , lmao!
Congrats @Lindagaf !
"If she is accepted to Kenyon, we will absolutely visit. Pretty weird re nipple piercings. I think I wonât mention that:-)
This is hands-down the funniest thing Iâve read on this forumânot just the fact that there were nipple piercings but that you thought you wouldnât mention it!! (My mom would have done the same thing way back when I was looking for a school.)
Thanks for sharing your journey (novel). Itâs comforting to see that others also go through this process with lots of thought and humor.
Best of luck to your daughter! Kenyon will be a wonderful experience!
@ZZdecision2016 , you know what? I did mention it! I figured she needed to know everything before she visited: the good, the bad and the ugly. She was quite unperturbed. Haha!
@Lindagaf My daughter is starting there in the fall as well. Congrats! Hope you like purple!
@Lindagaf If it helped in the slightest Iâm delighted.
@Lindagaf Congratulations on the decision. Not only did your post #263 make me smile, but it also nearly brought tears and I donât even know you!. My D15 will be home in a week and a half and I donât know where the year went. Enjoy your time with your D including all of the excitement of her departure on a new adventure. Better not blink.

Incredible finish to a heartwarming story. So many congratulations are in order for your daughter, @Lindagaf!! She will certainly thrive and prosper at Kenyon. From what Iâve heard of it, youâve all made an absolutely brilliant decision.
All the best to your D. Keep us posted in the fall!
All the very best to your D. This was a âcoolâ thread
Hooray! Hope sheâs feeling good about it. Very happy for both of you!
For what itâs worth, as we have been on similar journeys in the last few weeks, one of the things that DCsâ CC suggested to address the social concerns about the favored school was to articulate a plan for getting involved in the community. Strange as it sounds, as soon as DC said âI can do x and y. I want to join a and b, and look into m and nâ, it all started feeling quite doable, and even exciting. I suspect that may become a mantra as move-in day approaches, but it seems to have been empowering.
not wanting this wonderful saga to end, is there still a possibility of a wait list acceptance atâŠwas it bates and carleton?
Yes, she is on WL at both Carleton and Bates. We assume that wonât happen. She has done due diligence with sending short emails to express her interest, she added a little info about why she likes them and why she would fit in. She had her most recent grades sent.
I think I mentioned to someone that we were so fixated on those two that we didnât learn as much as we could have about Kenyon. Itâs made her realize that Kenyon is probably a better fit than Bates. Especially after Bates was ranked 13 by Princeton Review in the Lotsa Beer category! Haha! However, she says she would take a spot at Carleton if itâs offered.
Ahhhhh, interesting. I didnât realize two others were still in play!
Well, ONE other I guess.
I was relieved that all our decisions were clean ones: Admit or Reject. Does having Carleton waiting in the wings complicate matters or is she fully embracing Kenyon in the meantime?
She is assuming Carleton wonât happen and other than the things I mentioned, isnât thinking about either of the other schools. She was also WLed at Oberlin but isnât interested anymore. She is happy with her choice.
