I'm currently filling out applications for various competitive internships and programs. Idk where I should draw the line on what I should include. All of these applications are for political based programs. So should I be including things like theater and athletics or math-based activities (none of which I have significant leadership roles in)? Or only political/leadership based activities?

Then the final question: Should I include "Sweatervest Club VP?" lol This question's not as serious as the above, but it kinda makes you think. Would adding something like that make them think
1. This guy's an idiot who's just adding everything and joining clubs for no reason. (Even though I cofounded that club lol.)
or
2. This guy actually have a personality as opposed to the millions of DECA/OSAMO, etc apps we're receiving.

So overall, how much or how little do you include?

but add the activites that show you’re not just a couch potato. you can be a politics person who has a wide array of interests. but i would say that theater is relevant to politics, as is atheltics (at least to some extent. it could show team work or something). and if that sweatervest thing is actually a club, then you should add it; i think it’s funny lol

@goodnoodle - I think resume padding is more like adding the same activity rephrased in a multitude of ways. A lot of kids do that on NHS applications at our school: for instance - they’ll put Key Club down, and then on another section, they’ll list every single walk they volunteered with for Key Club… If you have an array of clubs/activities, serious or otherwise, put them down.

@goodnoodle - I actually successfully incorporated Rick Santorum into all of my AP World projects last year, including one on Ancient Rome, Islam, and the Dark Ages - I also used it as evidence in my argument essay on my AP English Exam (which I subsequently got a 5 on, wink wink). #SantorumLife

I don’t know why you’re making fun of sweatervests, Repede, it’s not like you could ever possibly make a disastrous bid for the Presidency like homeboy Santorum could or maybe even OP. So there. BLAH.
