Where do YOU think I should apply?

Hi, I'm a white, male, New York senior. Here are my stats.

SAT: Math-740, Critical Reading- 690, Writing- 770 = 2200
SAT II: US History- 800 World History- 800 Biology- 790
AP: Euro-5 Bio-5 US-5 English-4 Stat-5
Unweighted Average- 96 (took the most rigorous courseload my school offers, never got anything below an A-.)
Weighet Average- Something around 104
Rank- My school doesn't rank, but I would be in the top 10%.

Sports- Freshman year- JV winter and spring track. Every year after- Varsity XC, winter, and spring track. A relay team I was on made it to the State meet. I think I'm fast enough to run DIII, but I don't think I would be recruited.

School EC's- News editor on award winning school newspaper starting Junior year, maybe XC captain this year, NHS- Treasurer this year

Out of School EC's and Community Service- Volunteer at National Park site near my house (100+ hours over the span of 2 summers), Volunteer at my town's Historical Society (50 hours one summer transcribing documents dating back almost 400 years), Crucifer( guy who holds big cross during procession) at my Church (leadership sort of), Participated in Coat Drive for Migrant Farm Workers, 2 years volunteering at a charity event

Work: Summer of Junior Year- Work on a Clam and Oyster Farm (40 hours a week), Summer of Senior Year- Work at the local Boys and Girls Club (18 hours a week)

Awards: Scholar Athlete awards, a Newspaper award, an academic award for best GPA in AP US history, every year qualified for principle's honor roll, 2 Years received Triple Varsity award, MIP for Spring Track

Now, as you can see I love history. That will be the driving force behind my applications. I have perfect scores in History SATs, APs, and classes, as well as over 150 hours of "history" volunteering. Track might help me get into D III schools, but as I said, I won't be recruited. Right now, my first choice is Tufts. Do you all think that is a match? If not, where else should I look at/apply? I also like Bowdoin. Would I have a shot at any Ivies?

definitely a good shot at ivies. you seem like a pretty decent candidate. your history volunteering really stands out! it's worth a try. tufts is a great school though.

Thanks alot. I love Tufts because it seems like I would get a great education on par with the ivies plus Boston.

yeah definitely, tufts is always overlooked for some reason. if you liked boston then i guess i can't recommend dartmouth to you...

yes you should be good for tufts, just make sure you show geniune interest in the school. you'll be fine as they know that Tufts isn't a place youre going to fall back on if the ivies reject you. let them know you really want to go there and you should have no problem.

nice stats.

dude nice stats.
tufts would definitely be a match. try ivies...UPenn, Cornell, even HYP???; Rice; Pomona College (Really small college in Cali but really good)

I think you should apply to all five service academies.

USMMA at Kings Point might be a good fit if you want to run track.

One of the reasons S chose KP over USNA was because he could wrestle varsity at KP while he'd probably never compete at that level at Navy.

Also, you have many more options upon graduation from KP than you do the other academies.

Thanks alot everyone.

Based on your stats, you would not be a strong applicant for any of the Ivies except, perhaps, Cornell. On the other hand, you'd be a strong applicant at lots of near Ivies, like Tufts and Bowdoin. Here's some other good schools you might want to consider:

Northwestern
Wesleyan
Johns Hopkins
Carleton
Vassar
Carnegie Mellon
Washington and Lee
Emory
Vanderbilt
Notre Dame
Georgetown
Haverford
Macalester
Davidson
Colby
Univer. Of Southern CA
Colgate
Brandeis
William and Mary
