Goldfish- No offense at all, great list, but do you have any safety safeties... we dont want another Andi's son here... especially a CCer

I don't love the UCs per se. The only one I care about it Berkeley, and the others are either to see if I can get in, or they're safeties.

50 schools is insane. Who has time for that?
Not because I'm applying to a lot means that I've started them. Haven't finished (more like started) any except for Stanford (duh) and the UCs.

"Goldfish- No offense at all, great list, but do you have any safety safeties... we dont want another Andi's son here... especially a CCer'"

I applied to University of Pittsburgh as well, but I'm not sure if my counselor has written the rec for that school yet, so I'm debating where still to apply or not.

just curious... I know I was freaking out at my list of super reaches... I dont know yours stats all too well (i do remember you posting them about 100 times in the chances thread)... im sure youll be all good.

yeah, I'm sure my stats aren't that competitive for HYP, so hopefully my essay will make up for it.

already applied:

UC San Diego

yet to apply:

It's weird how many people here apply to Harvard and Yale but not Princeton.

Good observation Goldfish

Personally, I never even considered Princeton... I heard it was in boo-fu, and I think it may be a bit too stuck up and intellectual for me (I am a good student, except when I am not doing homework, I want to chill, not talk about philosophy... hopefull stanford is my best bet for that)

one thing i looked at when i was going down the list of ivies to apply to is how down-to-earth / stuck-up the student body might be, that is by far the thing i looked for the most in selecting my colleges, seeing what the student body would be like...
why do you think i applied to stanford early? (:

but eating clubs and all that nonsense... it sounds like it's an invitation to being snubbed by rich kids. i'm pretty sure there'll be some of that going on at harvard and yale, but on the most part, i think i can find my niche in a grounded, diverse bunch of kids. i've also heard a lot about duke being a snobby school, but i'm ready to see what that place has to offer

I was thinking of applying to UPenn and/or yale, but i don't want to applay too many places. plus there are a ton of people from my school applying to Penn this year (and one of them was a silver medalist in the world championship for tai kwon do or something) and the application is a bit more work, and Yale... my best friend is applying there early and it's been her dream school since like... grade school. if i got in and she didn't that would be disastrous, and if we both got in, i'm afraid we'd tend to cling to each other.
