Where is the place where you put AP scores on the app?

Yeah I guess there isn't a place.

^agreed.

I don't think they factor in APs when making admissions decisions; they have SAT scores for that. APs will help once you're admitted and choosing your courses though. You can use them for credits, if I'm not wrong?

If they're good, get them to Columbia somehow. It helps if you have a strong AP record. #3 is wrong.

Even though columbia said not to attach a resume, my school automatically sends out every student's resume along with our transcript packet. On my resume I've laid out my AP scores... so maybe you could do the same?

OR! I'm pretty sure columbia has an awards section? If you've received something like National AP scholar, you can just write it in as an award, then your AP scores are implied (I took this approach as well).

I believe your guidance counselor has to list that on the page they email her/him (you can see it in the pdf version). Perhaps its on your transcript as well?

C02 is absolutely correct, if your AP scores are stronger than the grades you got in those AP classes, it helps considerably to show that you did, in fact, learn the material well.

Call College Board AP Score Reporting Services at 1-888-308-0013 with your AP #, college code, and credit card ready. It's $15 per college (7 business days) or $25 per college (2 business days rush processing).

i havae 2 5's and a 3. meh?

so if I got a B+ first semester and an A- second semester in AP U.S. History, but a 5 on the exam I should send right?

why wouldn't you want to send a 5? do it.

Because I have a 4 on AP Eng Lang and a 4 on Euro Hist...but those are good, I'm not one to say that a 4 is a bad score....hate those kids

eh. just do it. most people send their scores. may as well give colleges all the info you can so they don't think you have something to hide.

good point

I have 8 5's and a 4 so I would really like to send it. I am going to meet with my guidance counselor to get my **** together to send out... should I just throw it on my resume?

No, it's not resume material - a resume is a set of professional qualifications. APs are academic qualifications. If you have your score report showing all those grades, photocopy it (or scan it into a PDF), and submit it as a supplemental item.

E-mailed my guidance counselor and she said that she reports them in the secondary school report.

then you've got, like, 4 days to challenge the suspension.

or explain it in the "anything else you want to tell us about your academic record?" supplemental question. Saying "I was on a bus where other kids had brought alcohol; the bus got busted and everyone got suspended but I was neither drinking nor supplying" probably won't kill you. Attaching a brief note, perhaps, from your vice-principal that says something like this also might work even better:

"To whom it may concern,

Mr. Jonas Soap is an excellent student in good standing at West Bum High School. On October 13, 2008, Mr. Soap was among 35 students disciplined for an incident where students brought alcohol on a school bus during transportation to a school-sponsored event. All students on the bus at the time were suspended; however, upon investigation, we wish to note that there is no evidence that Mr. Soap was actively involved or participating in the illegal activities. As a matter of policy, we have had to apply the same disciplinary standard to him as to all others on the bus, which resulted in a suspension, but we do not believe that Mr. Soap poses any disciplinary risk at this school, and we are still extremely supportive of his college applications.

Best Regards,
Ezekiel Hardarse
Vice-Principal, West Bum High School"

You know, something like that would go a long way. Particularly the last sentence.

Did I miss something? Where's the post about someone getting narc'd for booze?

D's letter sounds awesome (if you could get a school bureaucrat to say that). I highly doubt they would, because they'd look like total idiots for having such a stupid school policy.

Wrong thread Denz :-)
