Where is the nearsest airport to New Brunswick?

I'm looking for the closest airport to New Brunswick and what is the best way to get from the airport to the school?

Since you're coming from Hawaii, the only two Jersey ports that have flights to/from there are probably Atlantic City and Newark.

Newark Airport is definitely the more convenient for you both in terms of distance (if you're taking private transportation to New Brunswick) or access to public transportation (if you opt for that method to New Brunswick).

As far as going from the airport to NB/Pway, I would guess a private service would be the most convenient for you (or anyone really) if money were no issue.

But looking at the NJ transit page (<a href="http://www.njtransit.com/sf_tr_schedules.shtml)%5B/url%5D">http://www.njtransit.com/sf_tr_schedules.shtml)</a>, You could take the North East Corridor Line straight from the airport to New Brunswick.

You should contact the school and ask them the best way to get there from Newark Airport -- it is a big university and parts of the campus are very far from the NJ Transit train stop at New Brunswick.

I would say EWR (Newark Airport) and then take the nj transit train to new brunswick or you might want to get a taxi.

The main administration building is right across the street from the New Brunswick NJTransit station. There is a comprehensive bus service between the campuses, or you can use a taxi. You definitely want to fly into EWR (Newark) and take NJ Transit to New Brunswick. Good luck!

Thanks a lot!

Yes, a friend of mine who lived in Hawaii for years and is paying a visit this summer said that there is a direct flight (11 hours) from Newark to Hawaii.
Good luck and hope you like the northeast!

NJ Transit from Newark would, like everyone's said, definitely be the way to go. The train you need to take is on the Northeast Corridor line and will say it's going to Trenton, which is the last stop for the train.

But you want to be sure you get on a train which will stop in New Brunswick. There are various versions of the Northeast Corridor Line, some express various places, end early, etc. There will be a schedule posted, and you can tell which train will stop where. It will probably cost you $13-14 each way. You can buy the tickets in machine (cash or credit card) at the top of the escalator after you get off the last stop of the air train. Then you use the train ticket (hold onto it-it is also what you need to show the conductor!) to get through a turnstile, go to the appropriate track (6 in total I think), go down the stairs/elevator/escalator and wait for your train (there is an air-conditioned waiting room). When you go back to the airport, be sure to keep your train ticket, do not give it to the conductor, you will need it through the turnstile going back to the air train to get to your terminal. It is all self-explanatory once you see it, but I always like to know how it will be....hope it helps.

When you get off your flight, head for baggage claim and then look for signs for the Airtrain. It's a monorail that will take you on a short ride from the airline terminal to the rail station. You can buy train tickets in the airport terminal before you get on the monorail or after you get off. You do not need a ticket to get on the monorail.

When you get to the train station, look for signs that say "Westbound" or "Trenton." As the last message said, make certain you get on a train that makes a stop in New Brunswick. Not all of them do. If you're in doubt, ask one of the conductors. They always get off the train and stand on the platform while the train is in the station.

I hope you like Rutgers and our area of the country.

good luck my kiddo loves rutgers and the airport and trains are good in the area you should not have any major problems
