My D and I are going to visit Rutgers (NB campus) in February. We'll be staying in Manhattan, without a car. Is it feasible to take public transportation to the NB campus?

Yes, there is a New Brunswick train station just off campus which you should be able to get to. I know that it goes to Penn Station, but I know nearly nothing of NY, so you might need to take a few subway lines to get there?

Anyways, it is very possible. :)

You guys will be fine! The train runs on the Northeast Corridor Line. Take it at New York Penn Station to New Brunswick, New Jersey. It’s about a 50-70 minute train ride, depending on the time of day and cost 26 round trip each.

The station is conveniently near the College Avenue campus and is about a 5-10 minute walk from the station to the Rutgers Student Center. If you are going on the week days, you’ll have the Rutgers buses running frequently which will allow you to go to the other campuses (Busch, Livingston, Cook/Douglass).

Phew, thank you! The school is so big I’m intimidated trying to find my way around it. We have to go to Busch campus-- we can just get on a Rutgers bus even though we’re not students?

You are probably trying to get the Visitor’s Center, right? Once you get to the Scott Hall bus stop (in front of the grease trucks), you need to get on an A bus. That’ll take you to the Visitor’s Center. (I think the drivers don’t always stop there, so try and talk to him/her beforehand or ask one of the students to pull the line requesting a stop when you are approaching the visitor’s center.)

And yes, anyone can take a Rutgers bus!

Yes, that’s right-- I will print this out and we will be fine! Thank you!
