Where Should I ED - Northwestern or Wash U??

Hi! I’m a high school senior and the first in my family to go through this college process. I would like to be on a pre-med track and don’t know which school is best for me. I was told from my college counselor at school that I should likely ED to one school or another since my chances of getting into those schools normally isn’t very high; however, I’m sort of indecisive so this is quite stressful. Northwestern is a well reputed school nationally and seems to have a good mix between an academic and social life among its students (correct me if I’m wrong), but Wash U I have been told that the curriculum at Wash U is slightly easier than Northwestern’s and it’s not as cold. (When I say “easy” I don’t mean to say I’m looking for a blow off school, but I wouldn’t be crushed with the sheer amount of work like if I went to Uchicago.)

I’d appreciate any input anyone has about either of these schools and thank you in advance to anyone who answers!

Biased towards NU, but they are very similar schools academically. NU seems more pre-professional, social and has a more vibrant location. I think cost should be a key factor here as medical school is expensive.

Will second what @WildestDream said (Swiftie?!) About cost.
But, I am personally in favor of WashU.
They have excellent resources for premeds, as well as a comprehensive advisory system with each student receiving personal guidance from multiple advisors.
I personally feel that the schools are very similar academically, so the most important things for you to consider are cost, fit, and location.
Idk about NU, but STL is beautiful! And WashU’s campus/dorms/food are exceptional. (Plus, easy access to the Loop, Forest Park, and many other STL attractions.)
I will say that as a premed at either school, you will have a LOT of work, as both are chock-full of premeds. I do know that WashU’s student atmosphere is collaborative (competitive, but cooperative), but once again, cannot speak for NU.
Good luck making a choice!

Assuming you have no need to compare financial offers, I’d apply ED to whichever school you prefer.

Echoing PeregrineFlute’s comments. Grew up in Evanston, love Chicago. Student is a sophomore at Wash U. Loves it and loves St. Louis. She is very happy – works hard but does other things as well – including research at the Medical School. Check them both out – excellent schools.
