They'll be dropping me off at Berkeley this Saturday, I'll have the whole day to show them around Berkeley, what are the best places that are not expensive to take them? I have a little brother, is there anything he would enjoy?

foodwise or sight-seeing wise? depends what they like to do. there are campus museums, there’s the asian ghetto that people seem to like (for food, gypsy’s is good). yogurtland seems to be a success with the kids. it’s nice just to walk around campus too. the city of berkeley itself isn’t the prettiest, which is why most people stick to campus, the dining and shops around campus, and touring SF.

If you want to eat a lot of food after all that walking and sightseeing, go to King Dong Chinese restaurant on Shattuck Avenue and order the family meal. You pay 30 bucks and the food keeps rolling in lol.

I think I’ll take them to a restaurant and them some sight-seeing place. Would you recommend the botannical garden or art museum, or anything else? How about up the campanile?

**sightseeing is free:

**berkeley botanical gardens
berkeley campus (admire campus architecture or new buildings like the chan shun library)
see the crazy people (happy happy man, joshua man, tai chi dude, funny costume guy, african preacher guy, anti-consumer guy who sits atop the stone pillars in front of bancroft, long fingernail instrument playing guy, crazy 1 million hat lady)
see the hobos at people’s park
climb big c hill - admire the scenery
library - watch mcb majors stress out

**cheap places 2 chow:

**cheeseboard (famous & whole pizza 20 bucks, feeds a family of 4 at $5 a pop)
gypsy’s trattoria (well known italian food at $7-8 a pop, good portions)
fat slice + blondies (cheap pizza, decent taste)

Just swipe them in for Crossroads… You have more than enough meal points.

The botanical garden is beautiful. It’s free for students, and probably not much for others. I’d recommend going there, but on Saturdays the bus that normally runs from campus to there doesn’t run. It’s a long steep walk on foot.

Going up the campanile is great too. A lot of people and their families do that.

It’s going to be rainy this weekend so better plan something to do inside as well.
