Hi, I'm currently a freshman in the business honors program at the University of San Francisco. I'm on a full-ride merit scholarship here, but I'm considering transferring to a somewhat more prestigious school. The classes are too easy, and I have a 4.0 so far. I had a 30 ACT/2100 SAT and a 3.9 uw/4.3 high school GPA. What schools, preferably on the west coast, that have strong business programs can I get into? Thanks in advance!

I don’t understand why you want to transfer when you already have a full-ride at one of the best universities in the US.

ummm… I’ve never even heard of their business program.

OP, have a look at NYU Stern (although FA is terrible), Berkeley’s Haas (AND you’re in-state!), Wharton (don’t bank on it, though), and Georgetown’s McDonough. You have a reasonable chance at each of them, but Wharton might be a bit of a stretch.

Good luck.

I thought OP was referring to UCSF

No need to be a smart ass lobzz

Almost all ba level business degrees r a joke. At cal even the econ guys are smarter. In bay area santa clara is a bit more prestigous in biz than usf.

lobzz, thank you for all the suggestions! I didn’t apply to Cal last year because they don’t superstore the SAT, like most public schools, so I didn’t think my 1900 (2100 superstored) SAT was good enough. I wonder how much attention they pay to my high school stats.

oh, and I probably should mention that cost is a secondary factor. I don’t need any FA. I chose to go to USF because of its proximity to Stanford, where my long-term boyfriend goes, not because of the financial aid package they offered me.

bottlecap 1990, i thought USF was only a grad/med school? My dad went there.

kmazza, there’s a lot of truth in that. I guess that’s why most of the ivies don’t offer business as a major. it’s funny you mention that because my dad, a thoracic surgeon, has is always criticizing my major. He says I should major in something like economics, finance, accounting, etc. I’m only a freshman, so switching majors wouldn’t be too bad. What do you suggest I study, instead?

*superscore *superscored

I’m sorry for all the typos on the last post everyone, but I’m on my phone. Auto-correct is extremely annoying.

You should be a doctor. You seem like a really intelligent girl
If you like the business field then major in accounting or finance. Those are the two hardest majors that are useful in my opinion.

Unless want to be a cpa screw accounting unless chose biz econ. Females at sc u and work world compete over guys when mix with mgmt, marketing, and creative comm classes.

I agree with Kmza if you are majoring in accounting then be a CPA

Both your 1900 and your 2100 are sufficient for Berkeley as an in-state applicant. Now that you’re a university student, those stats will not matter as much (but they will be considered). If you’re not asking for any aid, I can see NYU Stern as a very viable option. Also, since we’ve established that you don’t need money, you should consider Brown- their COE (commerce, organizations, and entrepreneurship) program is exceptional.

I think your list should consist of the following schools:

-NYU
-Georgetown
-Berkeley
-USC
-Brown
-Penn (Wharton)
+One safety that you would be happy to attend.
