Where to buy clothes for college?

I'm a HS senior (male), graduating in May and going off to college in the fall. Presently, my wardrobe consists of a few pairs of khaki shorts, a pair of jeans (I live in FL), long khaki pants (which I only wear for work), college tees, shirts from my HS (sports, clubs, etc.), and maybe a polo or two. And a pair of Nike FreeRuns and a pair of Sanuks (which I don't ever wear anymore).

I don't particularly put much effort into what I wear, nor do I really care what people think about how I look (more than I need to). Also, I hate shopping. But I like nice clothes, and I obviously don't plan on wearing other colleges' shirts or shirts from HS in college... So I'm trying to seek suggestions on stores/brands that may serve as one-stop shops for me to pick up some new things for college.

I know there are tons of threads on this subject, but I'm not looking for specific wardrobe suggestions... rather, I'm looking for store and brand recommendations.

You don’t have to buy a lot- you probably won’t be doing that much laundry. Stores like Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. have nice clothes for men (if you don’t mind looking like a lot of other guys). You can also try J. Crew, Macy’s, & Nordstrom if you have a little more to spend.

At Nordstrom, the Sales Associate’s are really, really helpful, so if you need assistance matching things up or what not, they can assist:)

Just hit up an outlet mall and do all your shopping, you can buy casual clothes from nike and buy your nicer stuff from the Polo or Brooks Brothers. The quality of outlet merchandise is not as nice as retail stuff, but it is still a good value.

I would wait till you start college and get an idea of how you want to look .You will surely be influenced by what the style is at your school . That’s what my kids all did .Mom is a devoted shopper ,so getting the clothes was no problem .

Fauxmaven’s right. Some schools it doesn’t matter what the hell you look like, other schools (e.g. preppy southern schools) you might feel like an outsider depending on what you wear.

I’ll third fauxmaven! Going to school from one end to the coast to another really opened my eyes on the different styles. In addition to what princessmahina said, I also recommend Express, Gap, Forever 21 Men, G by Guess, etc.

^he’s completely right. Those are great stores.
I’ll let you in on a secret. Go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They have a lot of premium brands like guess, Hurley, Tommy hilfiger, among others. I only know this because my ex boyfriend got kicked out and we bought him a whole new wardrobe for $250ish.
My advice is to go get the basics. 2 nice pairs of jeans- one dark, one light. A few basic v-necks in various colors. 2 jackets that are nicely shaped, but casual and neural colors. A few pair of shorts and a pair of Sperry’s (appropriate at any campus). The rest you can figure out when you are there.

please don’t buy a v-neck.

^Dude, V-Neck sweaters (like the ones Raj wears on Big Bang Theory) are super hot on the right guys. Highly, highly recommend:)

(Definite NO if they’re shirts, though!)

sweaters are one thing but the t-shirts just scream “roofie purchaser”
