Ok, now that I got your attention, I need anti-biotics. I have a sinus infection and they usually last a couple of weeks without any anti-biotics. I'm hoping to get some anti-biotics soon so I can at least reduce the symptoms so I'm not debilitated during finals.

This is my first time getting sick and actually needing to go to the doctor since I've been at school. I waived SHIP and I don't know any doctors in the area. I read online that I can still purchase prescription drugs from the Ashe Center pharmacy without SHIP. But what I need to know is if I can see a doctor at Ashe Center to write me a prescription in the first place, even if I don't have SHIP. If not, where can I find a doctor's office that's in walking distance and doesn't require too much hassle for a first-time patient?

If you have Aetna/ Horizon do you go to the Dr. on campus if you have a throat infection and are they available on the weekends. If not where is the closest medical clinic for prescribed medications. Thanks

The student center doesn’t take outside insurance. Did you not get try to get a new doctor assignment through Aetna when you moved down there?

If you’re a current student, either you can contact your insurance plan and see what they recommend, or you can go to the Ashe student center. I believe to be seen at Ashe without SHIP it’s only $12. That’s usually less than the copay you would have to see if you went to your assigned doctor through your insurance plan. You can call to verify that though.

I know Ashe has a pharmacy in the building, but I couldn’t find the price of prescriptions if you didn’t have SHIP.

The center is closed on the weekends, but if you have an infection, you might want to try to get in today or tomorrow instead. You can sign into their portal and see what appointments are available or call to schedule an appointment.

So yeah, thanks for the info guys. Everythings been handled and I’m amazed at how awesome the Ashe Center was. I made an appointment for Tuesday at 9. I got there at 9, signed in on the computers, saw a doctor, and was out within 30 minutes. The doctor prescribed me some anti-biotics and even though Ashe Center’s pharmacy only takes SHIP insurance, they only cost like $15 so I just got them from there anyway.

I’m a little confused about the payment though. They didn’t charge me anything over there for seeing the doctor and the only time they mentioned payment was when they told me that the medicine would be billed to my BAR account. It’s still not there though and it’s been 3 days.
