Where to go from here...

I can't find myself leaving this site anytime soon, or before May 1st. And so I propose a plan for this wonderful site, that has a comraderie that is unmatched by any other (and I don't want to spend the next months on the Admissions forum).

We should all stay and help each other with the process. For those who are accepted, they may consider other schools that may appeal in ceratin ways. For those rejected, it can help with the searching. And for those who are deferred, it can help trying to become accepted and choosing and applying to other schools.

I know that I have come to respect posters like chidimma, iplayoboe, lindseylujh and while they all have different outcomes, we should stick togeather.

The following months will be hard and stressful, and even not considering Yale topics, I think that we should go through this process togeather. So iplayoboe, please stay. Chidimma, help us. And lindseylujh, lets go through this deferral thing togeather. And those I have not mentioned due to time, lets keep this as our home. I know that I need to narrow down my list in the next couple of days, and I would love all of your input.

With best wishes for OUR future,
Nickleby

Nickleby--

I'm the mom of a current Yale freshman who was deferred last year. My heart goes out to you; I know that this is a very tough time.

If you still love Yale, make sure you do ask your GC to call the regional rep to say so and ask if there's any additional information that would help your application; then follow up with a letter of your own.

Meanwhile, just in case, please do look for other schools you can love. If you haven't already, check out the very encouraging thread on the Parents Forum, "Outcomes after EA/ED rejection [and deferral] last year": http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=15378.

Where else are you applying/thinking of applying? I'm convinced that you are an outstanding candidate who will end up somewhere terrific.

Nickelby, I'll be right there beside you throughout this entire deferral process. Where else are you going to be applying? It's likely that we'll find some overlap in our lists.

Keep your chin up,
Lindsey

See, this is one of the reasons that I love this board! I'm also here to help anyone. This is a wonderful idea, Nickelby. Wishing the best for April!

Nickleby, your decision (like lindsey's...I'm still in shock over that one) is hard for me to understand. Thank you for your excellent posts and for your soothing words on D-Day. Please don't give up on the Yale dream yet; I - like many others, I'm sure - think chances are good that you will be New Haven-bound come April.
