I was accepted (supposedly competitive) and attended the Perry Outreach Program, a stem one-day camp focused on biomedical engineering, and was wondering if this was worth noting on my common app, and if so where should i it it? I was thinking activities or honors sections, or maybe not at all.
Since this was only a one-day activity, I would not put it under extracurricular activities (long term commitments). If you are interested in majoring in a STEM field in college or STEM is something you are really passionate about—write about it in one of your essays and mention this cool experience you had at the Perry Outreach Program! This is a way of showing colleges you have though about your future, are passionate about something, and that you had this experience without having this one-day event take up one of your 10 extra curricular activities. Colleges love to see Hands on Experience in a field you are interested. Also the fact that you attended this event shows that you are serious about it and want to get involved with STEM.
Hope this is helpful!
If you do not want to include this program in one of your essays, then I would recommend putting it in the “Honors” section because you were accepted to this competitive program. I would make sure to include in the description that you had to apply and were accepted (demonstrate that this is an achievement and was competitive!).
Or you can list it as a bullet in Additional Info if it doesn’t fit well anywhere else.
