Where to live freshman year? In CGS but I can walk :P

Hi! As many other incoming freshmen are probably wondering, where should I live?

I am enrolling within the College of General Studies. Personally, I don’t mind a trek, as I am already familiar with the T and comm. ave.

In particular, I was curious about Warren and West. I know West is closer to CGS, and I know Warren houses more freshmen. West campus however, I have heard is rundown and falling apart. Warren, I have heard is loud and can get dirty.

Also, when filling out this housing survey, I noticed a brownstone house for CGS students; is this mainly for CGS sophomores?

Overall, what is your opinion? I am leaning towards west right now because of the apparent “laid-back” attitude, but I don’t want to miss out on meeting the people that I would in Warren.

Thanks!

Warren and West really aren’t that bad to be honest. I think I would have chosen West over Warren if the location was better (unlike you, I do mind a trek lol). So I would say choose West since 1. better dining hall 2. better location to CGS 3. more laid-back people

and West is mainly freshman as well although there are a few sophomores unluckily sprinkled in there. Warren is 100% freshman (minus the RA’s)
