Hello!
So I committed to Boston university as part of the CGS Boston-London Program but me and my roommate are currently deciding whether to room at Warren Towers or West Campus.
Both of us are in the program and while I plan to go into CAS after she plans to go into Questrom/CAS.
I heard both arguments and seem appealing, but I was wondering which is better for our situation. We are both enjoy being social but also want transportation convenience/dorm space.
We would obviously have to sacrifice one aspect of it but I would love to know the pros and cons of both Warren and West based on our situation.
Also, within West campus, I am still confused about whether we are allowed to pick which hall to dorm in but if so, if anyone could help me the distinctions from the 3 halls in West.
Thank you!
So if in CGS then West but if CAS or Questrom then Warren. I am expecting this is for CGS.
The three West campus halls are basicly the same: high rise monoliths from the 1960’s.
If you’re in CGS i would request West, but you probably won’t get it. I was CGS Jan-London and they just place you wherever they find room for you. My top choice was West and my last choice was Myles and I ended up in Myles. I actually loved being there though so it worked out for the best!
And there is no distinction between halls in West, they’re all the same
I am a parent, but I lived in Warren Towers back in the dark ages. Two of my best friends to this day (who were in CGS, which was called CBS back then) were students that I met the first week of school and lived on my floor in Warren.
Honestly I think you will enjoy either option. West might be more convenient to your classes. Warren is a more central/overall better location.
You can be social in both. Lots of freshmen in both. And from what I remember, the rooms in one weren’t really better than the other. The rooms aren’t that great in either, but if you want to meet a lot of people, you definitely will here.
I’ll tell it like it is: Warren people are nicer, warmer people and you’ll make more friends, unless you’re wealthy/going into greek life, in which case your people are in West. BUT, warren is a dump and West is much more livable. it’s a double-edged sword. I chose West for the aesthetic, but Warren def would’ve been a better choice in the long run.
