I've narrowed down my choices to either University House 13th Street, or The Courtyards. Here's the breakdown:

The Courtyards

Pros: About 0.4 miles from my class, Only 530/month All-Inclusive, Individual Leasing
Cons: Have 3 other roommates, Only 1.5 bath, small rooms, older building, Community
Laundromat, Very easy to go over on utilities

University House

Pros: Spacious Rooms, Private Bathrooms, only one roommate, locked parking garage,
Individual Leasing, Newer Building (Built within 10 years), Washer/Dryer in apartment,
No cap on utilities
Cons: 1.5 miles from my class, 630/month All-Inclusive

I don’t have experience with either of those places but sounds like a no brainer to me… 100 dollars extra and only one roommate, your own bathroom, and no cap on utilities? That’s a way better deal… and having your own bathroom and w/d in unit make a difference imo. The distance would be worth it to me. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen people on here say university house is a decent place to live too, but don’t quote me on that. I’m sure someone will chime in that knows about it.

University House is nice, but definitely booked already. The Courtyards is absolutely disgusting. I would never, ever recommend it to anyone. Have you actually visited the places yet?

If you want to be close to campus, like walking distance close, I’d recommend Jefferson 2nd Avenue. It’s definitely close enough to walk, and walking distance to downtown and all the bars there, also. It’s also very nice and not too expensive - it’s cheaper than University House, at least. Maybe even a little closer to some parts of campus, too. And you always have the option of taking a bus to school for free, no matter what. You’re not going to get much closer to campus besides actually living on it, other than living in The Courtyards or living in midtown though. But really… The Courtyards are pretty gross and living in midtown can be either gross or expensive (midtown is the area behind all those bars and the restaurant The Swamp on University Ave). I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Sorry to kinda steal this thread, but I didn’t want to start a new one. When you pay the 200 dollars and submit the housing Contract, you are guaranteed a dorm right?

Jefferson is nice if you want walking distance. It’s off the Northeast corner of campus so close to most of the classroom buildings. About a 10 minute walk. A 2/2 there is $629. It is only in it’s 3rd year of leasing, so new.
