Hello guys,
I won the first place in an international astrochemistry competition, but it’s not really an activity…where should I put it? (I put it in my resume, but not all the colleges provide the space for me to upload it)
Thank you
P.S. Also, where should I put the youth exchange I have participated in?
What college are you trying to get admitted to? That will help to tell us so we can look at the essay requirements
@prettygreat it does not mattter because I have already written my essays and I do not want to change them. I just want to know it is ok if I put in my activities, or just into “honors” even though it is not an honor…I do not really care, I just want them to know that I won it.
I’d say activities I’m not one hundred percent sure but that seems like a good place. Also if there’s a spot where you can out other things you want to say put it there.
@prettygreat but what about the hours I spent on it? should i be honest and write that I spent 20 hours a week for 2 weeks? ( I spent around 40 hours working on that project)
I’d say what it is, what you did to get it, and stuff like that. I’m definetly no expert so I’d get a little bit more advice but I’m pretty sure that would work. As that’s the more logical way to go. Good luck.
You can always put it in Additional Info if you don’t think it fits in elsewhere or there is not enough space. I personally think both are activities, but you want to make sure you can fit in enough info so they get the 1st place in international competition part. They read your whole app plus additional info, and they know that the classifications are gray sometimes, so they will see it regardless of where you put it.
@intparent thank you. Would it look awkward if I put that I spent 20 hours/week for 2 weeks on it?
Nope. They know students do activities on breaks, etc.
