I will be taking my son to Duke for a campus tour and information session this summer. Can someone who is familiar with the Durham area, please recommend a safe & clean hotel for us? It would also be nice if it had a restaurant. We are unfamiliar with the area and have heard some questionable things about Durham, but perhaps these statements are overblown.
Washington Duke Inn is right across the street from campus and has its own restaurant.
There are several other hotels within a 5 min drive: Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott.
Durham is a very safe city.
Hi! I recently visited Duke, and I would recommend staying at either the Washington Duke Inn (it basically adjoins the campus) or the Hilton Garden Inn (it’s a newer hotel and near the East Campus). Both are great options!
The new JB Duke hotel they built on Science Drive could also be an option for you. It might be cheaper than the Washington Duke.
We just stayed at the JB Duke Hotel. It’s really nice, new, and modern. And a pleasant walk to campus.
