Because of my recent change of major from Engineering to Economics, I have started to re-evaluate where I want to spend the next 2 years of my undergraduate experience.

I currently attend Penn State, not gaining admission into Cornell/Rice's respective engineering programs. I actually like the college...however most of the students, even my friends, don't have that ability to carry an actual intellectual conversation that doesn't include parties and pot. Now I am by no means an angel, I spend most of my weekend nights partying and having fun. The difference is I don't let this interfere with my grades, which at this point haven't been up to what they should be (3.54 GPA). I attribute most of the reasons for my low GPA because of the dry engineering curriculum that didn't interest me. This semester I should get near a 4.0, raising my GPA to 3.71. I am currently still finding schools to apply to, so any reccomendations would be much appreciated.

HS GPA: 3.94
SAT: 1470/2080

Sophomore standing at Penn State
College GPA: 3.65+ (at time of applying)
Major: Economics
Caucasian

I have no idea where my ceiling is with this one, I'd like to apply to a better school with a more prestigious econ department at the undergraduate level. I don't mind the large university atmosphere but I'd rather not transfer into another state school, maybe a private with a more liberal-artsy student body and outlook. Somewhere close to the east or near a city is preferred. So CC, where should I be looking?
