first of all, i just tried posting this and the forum got messed up, resulting in me having to rewrite this whole thing, so it may not be up to par/worded good because i was in a rush to get it posted; hence the bad grammar. i want opinons and help before my counseling appointment in 2 weeks, so i can be prepared have a list of schools and majors i want to major in. Anyway, I am looking to transfer to a university that it close to city (city life), close to snow, has cold weather, chill down to earth people, activities and good social scene/nightlife, and activities for the surrounding city such as outdoor activities like mountain biking, snowboarding, and so on, so I do not get bored. The current schools that I am thinking about are Western Washington University, University of Washington Seattle, Evergreen State college (washington), University of Nevada Reno, (possibly) New York, and SF state. These are just a quick list of school of the top of my head that I have been thinking about (I have been thinking/looking at many more though). My current state of choice that I want to transfer to is Washington, mainly because i heard it is beautiful and very outdoors-y, and it is close to canada (BC) which i have also always wanted to travel to. I am currently a student at a community college here in California, about 40 miles outside of SF. Please give me your opinons on what schools you would recommend, and/or share your experiences. ANY ADVICE you could give me would be GREATLY appreciated, as i am caught in a hard position because i am having a hard time deciding. thanks in advance for the help guys :)

Are you willing to pay the cost of OOS tuition at these publics?

I was thinking of Colorado State, as they have WUE, but I just checked and unfortunately only fr qualify for WUE (tuition = 150% of IS).

However, WUE varies by school, some do permit transfers:

[WICHE - Student Exchange Programs](http://wue.wiche.edu/search_results.jsp?searchType=all)

I did my Masters in Moscow and liked it, but it doesn’t fit your city criteria.

YES i forgot to mention COLORADO!! I knew i was forgetting one. and it depends. I am not (well i should say my parents) going to go to the most expensive school, preferable a cheaper one rather than an expensive one, such as i think Western Washington University is about 28,000 for OOS, maybe +/- a little. but hopefully i can apply for fafsa also. But Yes, how could i forget Colorado haha

Here’s how WUE works, IF you qualify, you pay approximately 150% of the IS tuition. Once you see on the link I gave that a school accepts transfers, you MUST go to the college website and get specifics on the criteria needed to qualify, this is usually found under the FA & Scholarships section of the college website. Schools vary greatly in how they administer WUE so you need to be sure they accept transfers, CA residents, your major, and any other gpa or other factors they may consider.

ok thank you

I don’t know much about the others, but Western is really cool. the people are down to earth, and it’s really close to everything outdoorsy. their backyard is a huge forest. it’s BEAUTIFUL. also right on the water (bellingham bay) and the bellingham itself is super cute and and great and has everything you would need. I’m looking for a school with the same type of things (as a transfer too) and WWU is my top choice right now
