where & when do i find out about my financial aid info?

i was accepted to rutgers and also received scholarship information

i finished FASFA about a month ago..when and where i do find out how much financial aid i get for rutgers??

I was wondering the same thing, cherryfilter. :/

You will most likely receive a financial aid award package in the mail, but there might be some info under the “My Rutgers” tab if you log in.

When does the package usually come in the mail?

You guys are incoming Freshman right? If so, I’m not sure, because I’m a transfer student. If I had to guess, I would say they don’t send out the award info until May/early summer though.

Uhhh noo, they couldn’t sen dthem out that late - as people applying to multiple schools often make their decision based on the award offered.

I remember reading it comes 1-2 weeks after acceptance.
And you can ALWAYS call Fin.Aid - they will have better answers than random people on CC… :)

I was just basing this off how it worked for me when transferring Universities, I guess that’s a bit different though lol

We got a postcard in the mail today giving you the site to access your “initial aid award” - included previous communicated merit + loan info + addtl need based award. Word = stingy

yeah i checked my initial aid too :frowning: its basically nothing…

When they say “initial” do the numbers change only if your EFC on the FAFSA goes down OR can you negotiate for more? Only $3000 of the package of $11500 doesn’t have to be paid back or worked for. Everybody else?

S got the postcard today with a link to the initial offer. His offer comes out to $6500 loan + $2000 work study. Rest is grants/scholarships. Total comes to about $29000. He is Pell eligible.

Artutha - That is GREAT to hear, these stories were scaring me - but I too am Pell Eligible so it’s nice to know I should be getting a similar package.

Any merit based aid included in that??

I know this is a stupid question, but this is PER YEAR right? o.o If it’s not then this is pretty frightening o.o

Post card in the mail? I didn’t get one yet. :/

@esthetique: usually fin. aid is given per year or per semester.

Yes. The amounts I gave earlier are for College of Engineering and it includes Scarlet scholarship of $3500 and Deans scholarship of $2000. He is also offered scholarship of $10,000 each for Business and SAS, but he prefers Engineering. He has great stats and we were expecting presidential scholarship, but they didn’t offer it to him. So, we were about to get rutgers off the list, but now with this offer, it is staying.

wow arutha, that’s much better than my package…

Lol my package was 5,000 in loans
