I am considering a small LAC that is not top ranked, but has a decent program and a good scholarship, UT Dallas with the AES, TAMU, UT Austin, and still waiting on Carleton and Wash U.

I really like the BSA program for UT Austin, but worry it will not look good to possible future employers. And while I was originally very intimidated by TAMU, I have grown to like it. I have connected with some people from my high school who are there now. I do not know anyone at UT Austin. I feel sort of obligated to go to UT Dallas because of the scholarship, or the LAC. I do not think I will get in to Wash U. But if I did, should I seriously consider that one? or Carleton? I prefer the LAC environment. I know I should have applied more places, but it is too late to change that now.

Carleton seems to have a decent CS course listing in the catalog, but you should check into how often each course is offered, since a number of them say “not offered 2013-2014”: http://apps.carleton.edu/curricular/cs/courses/

What is the other LAC?

What is your net price at each school?

So far…the other LAC is $14K before loans or work study. Carleton will be maybe $13K before that. UT Austin and Tamu, I am not sure about the financial aid. Also, I was not considering CS when I applied to UT Austin, so I am not listed as a CS student there. That could be a problem. It is fine for TAMU though, as I am listed as an engineering student there, which apparently is what CS majors start as too.

Changing to the CS major at UT Austin is described here:
<a href=“Internal Transfer/Change of Major | Department of Computer Science”>Internal Transfer/Change of Major | Department of Computer Science;

It is not clear whether admission to the major is automatic if eligibility is fulfilled, or if there is a competitive admissions process among those eligible. So you may want to ask directly.
