I have always found interesteddad's posts very informative. My DD is now in her second year and is very happy at Swarthmore. I found Interesteddad's insights very helpful when we were making our decision to enroll. Now that the time is here for a new crop of Swatties, we have not heard from him. I hope everything is alright!

I’m pretty sure he’s still around.

Care to share how exactly he helped you though?
What is your daughter studying in college? How is she coping with the workload? How is she fitting in with the social scene, etc?

Otherwise, I don’t see the point of this thread. A private message could’ve been more useful.

FHMom-Interesteddad has been posting on other forums today. Maybe he hasn’t found anything to pique his interest on the Swat forum recently. ;)

I’m fine! I just haven’t had the urge to chime in. Most of the “Swarthmore or somewhere else” questions are either obvious or personal preference. I mean the finanical resources alone would answer the question “Vassar or Swarthmore” if you have the good fortune to be clutching admissions letters and similar financial aid packages from both.

Pomona or Swarthmore? What can I add to the choice of East Coast or Southern California? The locations will trump all other considerations. I can’t say that either of those is “better”, just different and probably not that different except for the difference in SoCal and East Coast vibe.

Williams or Swarthmore? I don’t think the world needs much more comment from me on the rather glaring differences in campus cultures and locations of those two excellent schools.

Swarthmore or State U for less money? Those are personal, family decisions. I have never felt right about jumping into that.

As for the “is Swarthmore too hard for me?” question, I will confess that I simply don’t have it in me to answer that one more time. It’s a legiitmate question. I’m sure that my views are well represented in the archives here. I recommend going to Ride the Tide and seeing for yourself.
