Im an incoming freshman, and got an email about housing preferences a few days ago. Im in DUS right now but Im going too be taking engineering classes. I also dont really party or drink much ( I may occasionally). Also Im wondering if people will get annoyed by things like me playing the ukulele, because I dont really want to piss anyone off with the noise. I know east halls is where most freshman get placed, but I just want to know what preferences I should put based on the atmosphere of each dorm building. Also what building is most diverse? Im an american born Indian and it would be cool to room in a diverse building ( I know most of the students at PSU are white, I dont mind that so the building doesn’t have to be diverse, just something Id like).
Sorry. You need to scroll up on the previous post. It didn’t post correctly. It’s a discussion about dorms at Penn State.
Can DUS students dorm in west even though its an engineering living option?
Sure – West isn’t ONLY engineers, it just houses the engineering special living option. E-House is WITHIN West, which is a much bigger complex.
West >>> East Halls.
Also ask for a Living Learning Community for engineering or science, or a quiet floor or “healthy living/substance free housing” . note that substance free doesn’t mean you can’t party - you can party all you like, just not in your dorm room and your floor will always be party-free (best of both worlds in my opinion, since you’re sure not to be kept up till 3 am before a midterm as can happen in East.)
How do I ask for a specified living arrangement?
Go to the eliving website and fill out the form under the update preferences tab. There, you will be able to fill out the form. Afterwards, you should get an email from PSU housing.
