okay, i think i shall get my first W this quarter (multivariable calculus, which isn't a required course for this year and i'm only taking for fun/potential bioengineering requirement if i don't get in anywhere this year)...i happened to miss a test because my friend hyperventilated in bio lab just before the test and was taken to the ER by paramedics and so i followed him there and waited to see what had happened...i was rather relieved to find out he was okay (didn't know he just hyperventilated at the time)...I'll probably retake the course next quarter, but i'm rather hesitant of notifying the UC's right now...i havn't dropped it yet, i'm going to hold onto it as long as possible in the hope that the teacher excuses it or something, or at the very least to make it easier for when i retake it...which'll mean i'll probably have to let UC's know by the end of February...

basically i'm a one year transfer so i don't have many grades to begin with (1 quarter and 2 summers for a total of 9 classes) and i was wondering what the impact of getting a W while they're evaluating my app would be...if the impact is severe enough i can continue to take the course and probably end up with a B or if i do extraordinarily well a B+...while a B or B+ is still a good grade, it'd mar my current 4.0 and make me ineligible for a regents scholarship...and i also fear the possibility of them letting me in with one of those crazy contracts of admission that require a 4.0 and that a B or B+ in this class would result in having an offer of admission rescinded...
