Whether to take Bio or Lit.

I am signed up to take 2 SAT2 tests for the next date. I want to major in either political science or some sort of Biopsychology/Neuroscience field. Since I've been told that you can take basically any test you want when you show up, I was thinking of taking Biology instead of English Literature, which I signed up for. I currently want to take History (even though I was disheartened after only getting a 650 on the Collegeboard book practice test).

My question is, for the field(s) I want to enter, should I try and prove my abilities in science (with only 1/24 of a year in AP Bio), or should I take english, when I already got fairly decent CR and Writing SATI scores?

THANK YOU!!

Depends on what college you are applying to. UCs just want the highest scores, regardless of the subject. Private colleges, especially the elite ones, often want you to take Math IIC. Further, depends on whether you're a junior or a senior. If you're a junior, you have no need to rush, and can wait to finish AP Bio before taking the test.

Oh no, it's bad. I'm a senior and I only have one test date. I know I'll do poorly on math, since I got a 640 on the SAT. However, I think my well-earned A's in my two calculus classes will prove that I'm not completely retarded at math.

I guess I should take practice tests in Bio and in Lit and see which I do better on.

Thanks!

I didn't take the Lit exam, but the bio can be pretty tough since it encompasses so much. Study for it, though, and as long as you're good in the subject of biology, you'll be fine.

Are practice tests a pretty accurate measure of achievement on the actual tests? I got a 680 on Bio and a strange 650 on History (weird since I thought I was good at history). These tests are from the big Collegeboard book.

The probable reason that you may have not does as well on history is because the questions are so specific and dependant on memory. I'm sure you understand history very well, but when it comes to SAT II's, its all about how much you can cram, baby.

It really depends on what you're the most confident in, and what you think you'll score the best in. If you're not sure, or if you think you'll get similar scores in both, you might as well take both tests.... It'll cost a bit extra money, but you can just sit in for a third test (I think), so you can take History, Bio, and Literature. Well, the tests are in about a week, so you really need to make up your mind and study your butt off =]
