October ACT: English - 34; Math - 34; Reading - 29; Science - 29; Essay - 6

December ACT: English - 31; Math - 33; Reading - 31; Science - 32; Essay - no results yet

So, which 32 is better? I have a 33 if the scores are superscored, but I'd have to do some research to see which colleges superscore. Should I take it one more time and give it my all for a higher score?

I would say the second—better to have scores in the same range than have a huge discrepancy between the highest (34) and the lowest (29). Hopefully you'll do better on the essay.

I think your second set too. There are only a couple of reasons to retake. If you are a Junior and have the time to study and if you really study/practice for it. It does no good just to take the test over and over again with no prep...take it from me. Get a test prep book and work through it, then go for it.

Right now I'd agree that the second set is preferable, although that depends on what your writing score turns out to be. If it's lower than a 6 I would then recommend sending the first set.

I think the influence of the writing section in admissions depends on which colleges you're looking at. For the top tier colleges I would generally say that's it's one of the more important factors within the scope of evaluating your standardized testing scores.

Since you're a junior I would definitely say to take it again, especially because ACT has score choice unlike the SAT. You already have great scores, but a higher essay mark would really be useful. As a senior, you might not improve your multiple choice scores all too much, but I think that after going through junior year you're more likely to do better on the writing section-maybe getting it up to the 8-10 range.

Well, I just checked my writing scores, and I got an 8. I'll probably take it again in June, so that I have more time to prepare (I had a lot of school stuff to do, and the only studying that I did for the December test was the day before it, which is probably not the best idea).
