Hi all! I am applying to some pretty competitive liberal arts schools (in which my stats are on the lower end) that claim to look at applications holistically, but I think it is still important to submit my best score. My problem is that I received the same composite scores on both tests. Some have told me to submit the second score and include on the common app that I plan on majoring in something like English since those scores are so strong, while some have suggested I send the first score because it shows that I am more well rounded. I have no idea what I want to major in yet.
Alternately, some of my top choices do not require test scores, so maybe I shouldn’t submit them? I have a 3.95 UW GPA with a rigorous course load, and some pretty killer extra curriculars.
Some schools super score the ACT. you could send both. That said the difference between them is so small that one or the other won’t be the difference between acceptance and rejection
Definitely send both to the schools that require since it superscores to 32 (True most don’t superscore the ACT but it gives another data point). Check in with your GC about sending to test optional schools because if a 31 is below median it won’t help (thinking Bowdoin here) and not sending a score shouldn’t be held against you especially since your transcript and ECs are strong. Do you have any strong SAT2s? Submit those if you do even if they don’t ask for them.
On the other hand, if you truly want to submit one ACT score, submit the first for sure.
