I will be applying to engineering schools, hopefully Chem Engineering. I took the ACT twice and scored (look close!!)

First try:
Eng 35
Read 31
Science 26
Math 29
Comp 30

Second try:
Eng 26
Read 32
Science 33
Math 34
Comp 32

My question is, is there any value to submitting both scores to get exposure for the 35 English, or just submit the second score and lament what could have been.....

Is there an error in what you report in one of your section scores in the second test because I get a 31 composite not 32?

Probably send both. A minority of colleges superscore ACTs and thus you should send both because they will use the highest section scores from the two tests. The rest and majority of colleges use the test with the highest composite, and thus will use the second and ignore the first. In that case the first one will not hurt you. However, it might help at some because some of those colleges may use the first one for placement purposes. Example, UIUC uses test with highest composite for admission. However, it will then use that 35 English score to determine that you can skip the first year Rhetoric course that is usually required of all freshman.

If your school superscore the ACT send both if not the second because for Engineering is much stronger in science and has a higher composite( better merit scholarship). Go to the website of the schools you are sending your scores and find out if the high grade in English with exempt you from anything. Sometimes it does, sometimes they only take in consideration APs, sometimes you are still required to take English.
