Which Airline is the Best?

I am going to travel from Boston to Los Angeles in August, so I searched for airline tickets now, and I found JetBlue is the cheapest, costing around only $150 for one-way or $300 for round-trip. So is JetBlue a safe and good airline? Small planes are not as safe as bigger planes right? Sorry if I sound too worrysome, but it's only my second time on a plane, so I want to know what to expect from a certain airline.

Please leave me a comment if you either took JetBlue before or you know other better airlines.

i have had friends who have been on jet blue before going from boston and they said it was good. They kept on talking about the direct tv and blue potato chips.

yeah jetblue rules. i go to school in new york and live in san jose, ca-- i almost always take jetblue, it's soooo much cheaper than the other airlines, plus it has a tv on the back of every seat and lots of cable channels. if the planes are smaller, i barely noticed.

Sorry, but planes are kinda my side hobby, so pardon me if i go too technical here.

JetBlue's planes aren't small. They are Airbus A320s, which are the equivalent of the Boeing 737. They are still very safe planes and JetBlue has a very good track record, even though they're only 5-6 years old. I'm flying JetBlue to orientation, and it is an awesome airline. Unlike ANY other airline, they provide DirectTV at every seat. Their seats are leather, and if you sit in the back half of the plane, then you get much MUCH more legroom than any other airline's economy class. The bad thing about JetBlue is that while they give free sodas and snacks, there are no meals, not even for purchase. So make sure you grab some McDonald's or something from the terminal before boarding your flight.

BTW, JetBlue doesn't fly to Los Angeles LAX airport, which is the closest one to USC. They fly instead to Long Beach, which isn't too distant from campus, but taking a SuperShuttle or taxi is gonna be higher than at LAX.

Here's some pics of JetBlue that might interest you:

Jltrex, do you remember what airline you flew before? If it was American, United, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest, etc., then I can assure you that you'll have a better time on your JetBlue flight than with your previous one.

I actually like flying in and out of Long beach a bit better because there is less hustle and bustle in Long Beach than LAX.

It cost me $250 to fly roundtrip from San Francisco to the airport in Burbank. How are you all finding these excellent deals? I can never find them.

Sirwatson, check out www.sidestep.com. It's a search engine that checks out fares on all the airlines' individual websites, as well as travel websites like Travelocity and Orbitz.

$250 R/T between the Bay Area and SoCal sounds way too high. I ran a sidestep search and found several JetBlue flights for about $160 R/T (between Oakland and Long Beach). If you prefer SFO and LAX, then Alaska is $180 R/T.

Redski you rock.

Frontier seems very similar to JetBlue...but I guess its not as nationally available...I live in CO and we usually take Frontier...It has DirectTV ($5 extra...) and is pretty cheap...

SirWatson:
I live near San Jose and I usually take Southwest. It's $67 one way and sometimes there's even $49 one way. You do have to buy 2 or 3 weeks in advance and seats are limited, but the price is great. There's no flight fom SFO, but there's plenty from Oakland and San Jose.

Yeah southwest or alaska are other good ones, but mostly for west coasts

redski59, I don't remember which airline I took, but it was an international flight, from Hong Kong to Seattle, WA.

southwestern sucks, don't go with them. They don't serve you any real food and charge for what remotely eatable.

How about American Airlines and United Airlines? Can anyone comment on these airlines.

Um...they are both in trouble....I only really know about United and it SUCKS now...

Yeah, United is in danger of becoming history by the end of the year. Besides, their service is not good at all (rude flight attendants, dirty airplanes), at least as I saw when I last flew them (in 2003).

American is much more decent. Financially, they're more stable than United. I find American's flight attendants and airport staff to be friendly. But they don't offer the individual tvs like jetBlue does on domestic flights; many of their planes have no tvs and those that do have like 8 tvs scattered through the cabin. AA also is now doing the "buy on board" food program, where you can buy a meal on the plane.
