Which AP courses should I take?

Hey everyone! So I'm a freshman, and I want to take some AP courses, but I'm not sure which ones... I want to self-study, since APs are not really available at my school. So which ones do you recommend or suggest?

are you trying to self study now? If so then probably do something like ap psychology and APUSH

^ I agree do AP Psychology or AP Environmental

First of all, look into the program of studies at your school. Are there no APs at your school? If there are APs at your school, can you list them? The question is kinda vague

It also depends on the field you want to go into and how much you can handle. A lot of kids I know take one as a sophomore (we only have one available to 10th graders at our school, but its a good rule of thumb anyway). It’s typical to take between 2 and 5 as a junior: Typically a math, a science, and whichever other courses you can manage that you find important. As a senior people take between 2 and 4.

Most people take one or two AP sciences (often AP chem/AP bio/AP physics), one or two AP math courses (often AP stat, AP CALC BC OR AB), and AP psych is pretty common. Depending on how important/interesting you find them you could take some AP English, AP social studies, or AP language.

AP US History is usually the 1st AP class people take at my school. You could probably self-study. I’m going to take it next year so I can’t go into detail about the course. You could probably self study AP World History. I don’t know anything about your academic abilities so I can’t really suggest any more.

Before anything else, think about fields of study that interest you. That being said, there are some APs that are easier to self-study than others: AP Psychology, AP Enviro, AP Government (either one) are all easier to learn on your own than AP Calculus or AP Chemistry.

There are absolutely no APs at my school. None. For anyone. They do offer IB though. And yes, I AM planning to start right now, since I’ve heard plenty of people start in January… And I could handle up to 3.

AP Psychology sounds good, and I’m also thinking about AP Biology, because I’m very interested in Biology… And also because medicine is my field. I also want AP English, I think, since that’s my favorite subject, and I pride myself upon my essay-writing abilities… At least for my age, haha.

But yeah, what is AP calc like?

Hmm, AP Environmental and AP World History, they sound good enough, but I don’t want to take anything TOO easy. I’m just a bit nervous about what to take and what will look more impressive on my applications… But I want to do it for the fun of it, too, so I need to choose carefully…

Are you aiming to take the tests this year or next year?

If it’s this year, do an easier one like Enviro, Psych or Gov. If next year, I’d recommend bio, a history, stat and/or compsci. Art history might also be possible.
