Simple question, and quickly answered, hopefully. I occasionally see a list of books about admissions that CCer's recommend, but I went back and I couldn't find any. So could someone just quickly list off a book/books they found benificial in the admissions process?

Personally, I think books don't help that much. They give ideas, but I read all the classis admissions books, and after I applied, I realized that it is all about the APPLICANT making everything seem SINCERE and TRUE. No book can really tell you how to do that.

I meant to understand the admissions process better.

And I hear some of the essay books are benificial.. I just can't remember what the books titles were..

I don't think there is truly a book that's good enough to get a recommendation from me. Use sights such as collegeboard, PR, studentsreview, and campus dirt to learn about the colleges in general and the admission standards. Then of course if you have any questions come to CC, and somone will alway help.

I agree, CC is all you need for inquiries on the admission process, the archived and current posts will be more than sufficient, but if you need a book, take anything you read with a grain of salt

wait, Kinglin - what's PR?

i thought that A for Admissions was quite good... and a couple essay books were nice to just browse through

PR = Princeton Review (www.princetonreview.com)

I got a book on essays. When I saw how crappy (IMO) even the best ones were, it took the pressure off.

use collegeboard.com to know about colleges and start playing with commonapp at www.commonapp.org. you should have a fair idea about what colleges look for.

Rock Hard Apps is good
