Which class is harder: AP Bio or AP Chem?

I say AP Chem, but my friend says Bio is harder because of the reading. What do you think?

I think AP Chem is harder.
Im currently taking Bio. Reading? what Reading? Our class is practically all lectures ( of course there is reading on the side, but not a lot)

Anyway, I like Bio better than Chem.

Biology is crazy easy.

At my school AP Chem is a KILLER! It's a much harder AP test as well.

is AP physics harder than either?

you must be crazy.

AP chem is harder than AP bio?

HELL YEAAAAAAAAA
Ap bio is a breeze
Cells have cytoplasm.

The choice is very subjective:
1. If you are better at memorizing details then Bio would be easier
or
2. If you are better at math and applying general concepts to specific problems, then chem would be easier

I'm currently taking both AP Chem and AP Physics B (AP Bio next year :)), and I find that AP Chem is somewhat more difficult, at least at my school. AP Chem is certainly more conceptual and requires more memorization, while AP Physics is more math-intensive. If you're good at science, neither is especially difficult, though.

What about AP Physics B? Can I take that BEFORE pre-calculus or calculus and only alg2/trig (I know that AP Physics C requires calculus)?

dostojevski is absolutely right

AP Chemistry is harder because you have to do word problems that require applying concepts and equations. Biology is nothing but memorizing a bunch of facts, which doesn't any talent to do.

You can take AP Physics B with knowledge of alg2/trig. Precalculus and calculus are not required.

well for Bio, the essays require you to pice together the facts into coherant concepts.

Well Physics C is the hardest. I heard Bio was quite easy that even sophomores take it. Chem I think is easy. You just have to acquaint yourself with the basic concepts such as ideal gas law, equilibrium and apply them. If you have trouble in the class the simple solution is to read the textbook. I am taking chem right now, and haven't taken or will take bio, but I know about Bio from what people I know told me. Bio is easy but requires a lot of work, at least in our school. The teacher gives out a lot of report and labs, while in chem we really don't have much to do.

I am taking both this year:

BIO - If you are good at memorization than you will do well. However, if you do not "like" biology, you will quickly become bored and studying will be horrible

Chem - To do well in chem you must be good at math. Also, some people are just naturally good at chem. But remember, there is "some" memorization involved in chem (formulas, concepts, etc.)

took apbio lats year, taking apchem.
our teacher covered at most 10/45 chapters from campbell book.. i got a 5, with luck. bio is VERY BROAD SUBJECT.. other than "evolution/cells.."
chem is HARD period. lol

right on.

chem is HARD. period.
dont take it. DONTTTTTTTTTT

I completely agree with Dostojevsky. Bio is a very broad subject, but, as a result, there is a lot more to cover, while Chem is attuned to different things (concepts, equations, etc., as people mentioned).

CHem is a GPA killer. i consider it the 2nd hardest AP next to physics

It's relative to the high school you're enrolled in and your high school teachers. For instance, at my school, past alumni who went on to Stanford and UC Berkeley have claimed that my school's AP Biology class was more challenging than a college freshmen- and sophomore-level class at Stanford and UC Berkeley. Our school's own AP Biology teacher has admitted in the past that he intentionally makes his AP Biology class as challenging as Biology classes he took during his freshmen/sophomore year at UC Berkeley. On the other hand, most students at my school find AP Chemistry much simpler in terms of work load and studying.

For me, Chem is practically easier. i HATE having to memorize stuff. Bio has been a breez (haven't studied for any tests all year) UNTIL we got to animals. Then, out of nowhere, it becomes the hardest class in teh world.

Chem is just an extension of intro chem - nothing's that much harder. But that's the stuff i'm good at.
