I’m entering my junior year in high school and there was a problem with my schedule regarding a sports marketing class. Sports journalism is a field I wish to pursue career-wise and will study it in college. Apparently if I want to take it, I will have to sub out a class I’m already registered for. Here is my schedule:
American Lit/Comp
AP Statistics
Pre-Calculus
Physics I
AP Psychology
US History
Since I’m not pursuing a STEM field, which course should I opt out of so I can take sports marketing?
Agree, you can swap out AP Psych or even AP Stat if you’d rather take sports marketing.
And agree with the above post…do you have foreign language? or have you already completed 3-4 years?
My school requires 3 credits of CTAE/Fine Arts/World Language for graduation. I’ve taken two world language courses and two CTAE so I have more than enough already. The sports marketing class is another CTAE so after this year I will have a total of 5 classes from that group complete.

Remember that the minimums for graduation at your HS may not be the minimum for colleges. Research some of the colleges you are considering and see what they prefer to see. Our experience was that many colleges wanted to at least see up through level III of a foreign language.
Most of them say 2-3 FL required but even if you have less, you are encouraged to apply. I have 2 so I think I’m good as long as I am strong in other areas as well.
Since you have two math based and two social studies based classes I would leave out AP Psych or AP Stats. If you don’t have any fine arts double check you don’t need that for college because colleges do not combine the 3 types of classes like your high school is doing. We don’t need fine arts here but some colleges do expect it.
