I'm enrolled in 4 classes and need to drop one...I'm hesitating between linguistics 1 (introduction to study of language) and communication studies 1 (principles of oral communication).

Also, is intro to psychobiology an interesting class? How difficult is it?

Introduction to Psychobiology (PSYCH 15) can be a horrible experience depending on how well you memorize information and take multiple choice tests. Professor is also significant in how well you do in that class.

I’ve heard mixed things about Linguistics 1, mostly steering towards the negative side… I don’t really know anyone who willingly takes psychobio classes unless they have to, what’s your major?

pyschobio 15 was my kickback class actually. It was pretty easy to me, and required little studying, although I guess you would say I am a decent MC test taker.

Intro to Communications is one of the hardest weeder classes out there. Are you planning to major in Communications? If not, keep Linguistics and drop Communications.

I just haven’t heard a lot about psychobio classes besides the actual ones intended for the major. A lot of pre-med students tend to be psychobio so the classes get really competitive, but the one you mention may just be intended for a GE and easy. Hopefully the latter! Have you tried looking up reviews on bruinwalk.com?

What also matters is if you’re an admitted transfer to communications or if you’re looking to get into comm. I actually think t1m0wnsu is thinking about Comm 10, which is known as THE hard weeder class and is the actual “Intro to Communication”, but I heard Comm 1 which focuses on oral communication (i.e. you give like a few speeches in front of the class) is pretty interesting. It may be hard if you don’t like speaking in front of large groups of people but valuable in that it’s helping you get better at this skill. I couldn’t find any reviews on the current bruinwalk professor for Ling 1, but it seems that if you really want to take it you should do so with Lee.

why so many intro classes? but i think bruinwalk is really key here. just go with what you feel is more interesting. if it turns out to be bad, hey it’s only a 10 week class :D
