Which classes count?

University of Michigan is my dream school, and I was wondering which classes really matter, I know that they don't recalculate GPA, but they still can't look at an A in gym the same as an A in math. I was just asking this because my hardest class is jazz so I was wondering how much it would hurt me if I got a B+/A- in it.

Thanks

Are you applying to school of music? If not, I highly doubt a B+/A- in jazz will affect a decision.

I would probably apply to LSA, ah thanks, that’s a weight off my shoulders.

Getting a B+ in one class won’t hurt you no matter what the class is. And an A- would count as an A in their GPA calculation.

All A’s with one B is not something to fret about.

I thought they didn’t recalculate GPA anymore?

Hmm, it appears as though you’re right. But regardless, the point stands. A single B+ isn’t going to make much of a difference from an A no matter what class it is unless you have low test scores/bad extra curriculars/bad essays, etc. A two-third letter grade difference for one class only changes your cumulative H.S. GPA by a few hundredths of a point. The fact that the class was something like jazz and not something like math or english makes it even less significant.

The fact you got a B+ in music, won’t really be looked down upon greatly as long as your core, the “important classes” look good.

I too, also got a B+ in a music class :stuck_out_tongue: (my voice isn’t that great), but I don’t think it matters.

Alright, that’s kind of what I thought, but I’ll still try to get an A, haha
