which classes do I take? dilemma!!! junior..

I am going to take:

English 3 Honors
Spanish 5 AP
French 5 AP
Chemistry Honors
Track and Field
(AP Statistics)
(AP United States History)
(United States History [0 period])

There are two choices:

A - I only take AP US and not have a math... but get a 5.0

B - Take 0 Period College Prep US (really easy) AND AP Stat... but my GPA adds up to 4.8 - annoyingly, even though it's an extra class. The 4.A ruins it....I would have a history AND a math...

What will look better???

It's essentially a GPA boost (and an extra AP to show to universities) vs having a math

Math is extremely important.

i guess me taking stat is overly additional…
i will be taking precalc at a community college over teh summer… but i thought it’d just look better if there would be a math being taken AT SCHOOL… or is that not that important?

Take math, especially as you’ll be a junior (if you were a senior and had already taken 3+ years of math, I’d say do whatever you want). Your GPA starts mattering less and less once you’re past that “perfect 4.0”, but math is … well … always important.

Is there any way that you can take AP Calculus AB or BC instead of AP Stat? I know in my school it’s regarded as sort of a slacker class, like the AP that people take just so they have another AP.

On the other hand, AP US History, while slightly more impressive, was just hell. It made my year miserable. :expressionless: I do not recommend it! Our valedictorian opted out of APUSH because it sounded so awful, and it was the smartest thing she’s ever done in a slew of impressive displays of intelligence.

I think APs are different at different schools.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that AP Physics is the devil, but people at my school say its easy. Same with biology. But chemistry? People at my school say that’s the devil!

A lot of people at my school say just take AP US. Honors US is so pointless… it’s the same thing as AP.

I would take a math if I were you and try to take AP US your senior year.

Colleges don’t look at your weighted GPA, so stop worrying about that. The easy solution is to take AP US and pre-calc/calc, since colleges would rather see a calc track than AP Stats anyway.

notmushroom, is APUSH really THAT bad? I am taking it next year, and your warnings are flesh-tingling!

Dude. Pick whatever schedule you want.

you cant get a 5.0…track & field isnt weighted (i think), unless your not taking it as a course…

What are you going to be majoring in when you get to college? Social sciences? Take the math. Sciences/math? Definitely take the math! Humanities? A toss up but it would be better to skip the math senior year than junior year.

Do you have an option to take a math at a CC or an online class?

@B Man 22- I found APUSH enjoyable, but that was because I had a wonderful teacher. Honestly, all APs differ by school. It really just depends on the teacher.

I would go with the Pre-Calc and APUSH route, personally.

Just do whichever course interests you more. I’d probably go with math, but that’s just me :D.

i think i’m going to take:

AP US
AP French
AP Spanish
Honors Chem
Honors English
Track
Summer - Community College Precalc

instead of

0 Period US
AP Stat
AP French
AP Spanish
Honors Chem
Honors English
Track
Summer - Community College Precalc

the top option is a 5.0 if i get all A’s.
and the bottom is a 4.8 because 0 period US is a 4.A class.

what do i do… i’m SO indecisive… I NEED THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE GPA
